That would be a big NO. While it is one of the most capable 3D aerobats out there, it is designed to be as light as possible, and is fairly fragile. Find a more durable plane to be your first 3D. I'd suggest just about anything from fancyfoam.com. They make great planes.

DANG!
i just finished mine this weekend.
this thing ROCKS!
im 14 years old and i built this thing with ease.

I used:
park 370
tp 730 mah.
eflite 20 amp esc.
eflite s75 for aielorons
hs-55 for rudder and elevator.
castle creastions micro stamp rx.

this thing went together very straight.
and flys like a dream!
i do just a little below half throttle the whole time.

super good knife edge with very little rudder.

takingbacksunday, it is a great flyer. I had mine for about 9 months and loves it. I fly mine with E-Flite 400 with 1320 pack. This is an excellent setup for me. Get around 15 min flight time. It will float in on lading.

It sounds like you're all set and ready to go. It's a pretty quick build. The only part that's a pain is the CF between the wings and getting the motor screwed in. Otherwise it goes together quickly and I think that it flies great.

Has anyone else seen the nose just blow up on the Byp Yak? At the Chitty 3D contest a guy there just had the nose blow up into several pieces, ripping the motor out. I thought it was weird, until a week later (2 weekends ago) I had the same thing happen to me. In both cases it was just flying along when BANG, the nose blew up. Both of us were able to glue it back together and had no effect on flight performance, I just thought it was strange. My Byp Yak is old, I've had it since August, but I still wouldn't think the balsa wood all up in the nose would just give at a joint all of a sudden. I'd even reinforced it with extra glue.

I haven't had that happen but I have noticed some cracking in the foam in various places (not from crashes). I think that the foam is very brittle and it develops small cracks that you can hardly see, and then they just let loose. When it happens in the front end, you have the motor departing the area without the plane....

What about an inexpensive GWS Motor. Is it worth a try? See url for specs.

Just make sure you can flip around the shaft to fit it inside the fuselage.

it look like it would work for the pic. The holes are in the front so you would not have to flip around the shaft

About to place an order on a Byp Yak and want some advice.
Here's what I'm looking at
370 1080kv motor
10A ESC
HS 55's
4 channel Berg receiver
910 3c battery
10x3.8 slowflyer prop

Any comments would be appreciated

I'd change the 910 3c battery for a 600 or 730 3c, other than that, it looks like you're good to go. In my opinion, the lighter you can build the Byp, the better it will fly.

would a E-flite Park 400 brushless with a 20 amp ESC work, or do I really need the 370??

ski4six the 400 would work great. I have 2 of these planes 1 with the 400 and the other with a 450. 450 adds extra weight but still rip this thing up

That set-up should be fine. That's what I'm flying and it's fine, not ballistic out of a hover but OK.

Here's a few questions: Is the battery new? What do you have the timing set at on the ESC? And finally, how much does it weigh?

I just build one(Park 370 + Thunderbird 18) and I have to buy the batteries.

I have two TP 1320PL buy I read it's too heavy. So I'm thinking on buying the 730PL.
The problem is that the 730mAh doesn't have the balance tap. Isn't this a problem? I was told that without balance the batterie doesn't last too long.
So, for the people that are using the 730PL constantly what can you say about it?

Thanks
