Default GP Reactor vs E Flite Eder or mini Funtana

Anyone try one of these yet? I'm tring to decide between mini Edge, mini Funtana, or maybe this Reactor. Here is the link--http://www.electrifly.com/parkflyers/gpma1540.html.

Well, just about anything will beat out the MF and ME. However, teh Reactor ain't out yet. It looks like a good, well thought out design though. You might also consider the Precision Aerobatics Katana Mini. I have one and love it. Couldn't ask for a better plane.

Thanks RyGuy--Didn't realize the reactor isn't out yet. There are a couple of ME and MF at our field. Guys seem to like them. What's your beef with 'em?

It the wing loading. Katani Mini has a larger wing at the same weight. It flys better and is actually built better. Better spar, capped wing, etc.

Yeah, the MF and ME are overweight. For a plane that size they should weigh about 20 oz, not 24-26. My KM has a lot more wing and weighs only 26, and is still ballistic with my setup. If the specs on the Reactor are right, it should be a great plane. Been a long time in the making though.

Fliton Mini 330 is really good. I have been very happy with mine and I tried the ME and hated it.

I see the fact that it has taken some time to come out...as a huge positive.
It takes time to get things right.

GP was really slow getting a plane to market in this catagory. It looks like an excellent plane. However, I kind of wonder what they've been doing with it since February when they first announced it at he GP E-fest. I assume that since they did fly it indoors there that it's a great slow 3D-er, seeing how indoors if you pick up much speed you'd be in the wall real quickly.

Obviously it took more time to get it right.
Real development of consumer products takes time.
You seem to know an awful lot about GP issues..??>>

I just know I saw pics of this thing flying at the GP E-fest, and it took them this long for them to finally get it to market. I don't know how long manufacturers usually take from prototype to market, but usually the planes aren't announced until a month or so before their release, in this case, it was different.

Also, in regard to another of my posts regarding GP, this time involving their Radix design. All I know is that when Jason Noll resigned from Team Futaba after the XFC, because of legal issues his Eclipse design is no longer his property completely or GP/Hobbico's, so the Eclipse design will never be manufactured because of this. I learned this through Mike Hammel of Fancy Foam. I was just wondering why the Radix design is capable of being produced, while the Eclipse isn't.

Also, I have nothing against GP/Hobbico. I have a number of their products and have no bone to pick with them. But when you live, breathe, sleep, eat, and live RC like me you tend to learn more stuff about this kind of thing.

Care to explain what I got wrong? I'd appreciate it. I'm not intending to sound like a GP expert here, so if you can chime in I'd appreciate it.

Radix is from Ultra Fly which has nothing to do with GP or Jason Noll.

QQ Byp Yak is a good one, same idea. Also the Equalizer from www.3dhobbyshop.com is similar and an excellent flyer. I have the Byp Yak and love it.

Nothing wrong with the Mini Funtana. If you put the right gear in it, you will have a 20 ounce plane that flies great. Mine does.

I now have one on the way too. I ordered it with the recommended outrunner and speed controller. I saw one at my local hobby shop. It should be a nice plane. I am looking forward to building and flying this one.

While looking at the manual, I noticed the wing is fixed to the fuse. I think the mini funtana could have been a lot better plane with this type of setup. The reactor looks like a well designed and strong plane.

Just ordered the Reactor also, with the recommended Rimfire. What servos are you guys planning on using. I noticed the plane doesn't have a tail wheel. I might try to cobble something up so I can steer it. Hope this can serve as my "winter" plane.

I am going to be using E-flite S75 on ailerons, hitec hs-55 on elevator, and a hitec hs 56 on rudder. I would use all hs 55's, but I have these four laying around.

I don't think you will have any problem with steering this plane without a tailwheel. The rudder is so huge, and the prop blast will throw the tail around just fine. A tail wheel will just add weight.

My plane showed up today. I didn't have a chance to get it out, but did look at the motor and controller. I am impressed with both. THe motor comes with a nice little adapter so I can mount the spinner. I was just at the hobby shop looking for something like this for a P-51. The speed controller, GP SS-25, comes with bullet connectors, deans, and seems like a real nice unit.

It sounds like this plane was designed to go together quickly, so maybe I will have time to git er done soon. Maybe next week. I will get some pictures up if I can get anything done.
