Re: Eflite 40 ESC
yes you can use 4 HS65HB. This is the best servo for this plane hands down!!
you will have to trim just a hair on the servo opening to get them in ( use a sharp blade) not a big deal , it takes no time at all to trim.

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
I have searched the forums (maybe not a good query...but I couldn't find an answer)
I am new to electric stuff...
I have the Thunder Power 2100 3cell. It has one JST connector and bare wire which I soldered a Deans Ultra on it.
The paper that came with the battery said to charge only with the shorter JST leads as it has protection.
Do people cut this jst off and put a deans on it? my charger is setup for deans..
Is there any site or reference so I can learn all the lingo and charging processes?
I have a Triton2 charger
thanks
mike

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Head to Head E-Flite Vs Rimfire
PRICE$ 54.99
RIMFIRE 35-30-950
weight 2.47oz (71g)
296 watts
Constant current 20 amp
Max surge 28 amp
Prop 10x5E - 12x6E
Run time with 3c 2100 mah lipo 20 amp =6.3 min
Run time max at 28 amp =4.5 min
PRICE $69.00
E-flite 480 1020KV
Weight 3.1oz (87g)
275 watts
Constant current 22 amp
Max surge 28 amp
Prop 10x7 - 12x6
Run time with 3c 2100mah lipo 5.7 min
Run time max 4.5 min
With the Mini funtana coming in over weight, the Rimfire looks to be the smart buy , more power and less weight.
My mini came in at 2.14 on the scale.
2.14 / 275 watts = 128.. per pound (E-flite)
2.14/ 296 watts = 138.. per pound ( Rimfire) this final weight will be less with the rimfire, more like 142 watts per pound
PRICE$ 54.99
RIMFIRE 35-30-950
weight 2.47oz (71g)
296 watts
Constant current 20 amp
Max surge 28 amp
Prop 10x5E - 12x6E
Run time with 3c 2100 mah lipo 20 amp =6.3 min
Run time max at 28 amp =4.5 min
PRICE $69.00
E-flite 480 1020KV

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Help I bought a mini funtana X and didn't realize it needed a 480 outrunner I have a 450 out runner and I'm thinking of running 2 of my 11.1 1320mah in parallel. unless 1 will be enough the batts are rated at 10c continuance and 15 burst I got the motor mounted and its pulling 9 amp full on with a 11X4 prop you think this will be enough I don't want to hover or anything just pattern fly and simple aerobatics any advice will help and any tips about building it would sure help I come from a slow stick and a mini telemaster

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Hi there Charl here. Finished my MFX last week and she had her maiden flight on Sunday. Just beautiful!! Was going to put a Power 10 in , but thanks to everyones advice stuck to the 480 1020kv which I have to say is more than enough power. Also strengthened the u/c with epoxy on the inside, and added a figurine to the cockpit. I'm using a Dualsky 40 Amp ESC because the hobby shop I support say they had too many E-flight ones go up in smoke (and don't sell them anymore). There was a bit of a gusty wind. First flight was without the SFG's and the landing was easier than I expected. Second flight was with the SFG's ,and because of the ever changing wind direction I found the landing a bit more tricky due to the weathercock effect ,and added directional stability with the SFG's. The flight itself was great once I had trimmed her out. I can't do any 3D stuff yet, but will hopefully get there soon. As far as the weight issue is concerned, I don't have a scale ,but hell-the aircraft flies and has more than enough power. I have programmed flaperons and boy o boy, she almost lands in a hover. Got Ailerons set at 70% Down and elevator at +10(up) on the Tx. Takeoff run is about 2 meters.
Getting back to your question Mark. My previous plane was an Art-tech Edge 540 with a post fitted Park 450 and 11x4.7 prop. I used art-tech 1800Mah 3 sell 11.1V Li-po's included with the kit. They are only rated at 8C. I was a bit dissapointed with the performance. When I bought my MFX I also got a Flightpower 2170MaH 11.1V Li-Po. rated at 30C. It makes a hell of a difference!!! I have flown my MFX (park 480 1020kv) on both batteries and all I can say is the 8C's suck. I am sure if you use a proper battery (at least 25C) your 450 would get the MFX in the air. Try a better battery first ,then a bigger motor. My 8C's get's the MFX in the air and I am able to do limited vertical manouvres.
Cheers

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Hello, Just finished puting together my mfx with the 480bl 1020kv, 40amp esc, 3s 2200mah lipo, and amstarting out with a 11x7 prop. To give you an idea of my skill level, I'm a descentpilot of my mini pulse xt with the same motor.
Are there any quirks I should be aware of, or should I be able to put her up, trim out, and cruise? Are flaps or spoilers necessary for landing? Any tips are greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Just make sure your CG is good , set Her at low rates with some +expo and move on from there.
The 480 -1020 is more than you need for this plane. I have to admit I was worried about the weight, mine was at 2.14, way more than the stated wgt, but She flew great! I would use the 12x6E prop.
She floats forever and lands great, very soft and easy. No need to mess with flaps
Trim Her out and GO for it , She is like a corvette even with low low rates, so get to know
her a bit before you ring her out
Have fun

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Thanks Dave for the reply. Is a little nose heavy ok like on my other planes?
One more question for any of you out there.......when a manufacturer recommends 2" travel for a control surface, does that mean 2" in each direction, or 1" in each direction?
THANKS!

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
my 15c thunder power 2100 pack quit after 2 minutes of flying. When I charged it it only charged 500 mah. The batery was slightly warm when it came out of the plane. Is there something wrong with the battery or is the motor drawing to much current for it to handle?

RE: Warm Batt and cut off
Your battery will get warm , they all do. as for the motor quiting, is your ESC on auto-lipo default? if so It will shut down when each cell gets down to 3 volts = 9 volts total on the pac. You should be getting around 5 to 6 mins of flying with your battery unless you are at wot the whole time drawing max amps, the wrong prop could caues this to. Check your set up with a meter, check your volt cutt off
I have a 1500 mah in mine and get about 5 mins of flying with four take -offs

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Had the first flight this mornning, not such a great day, kind of foggy but what ever. The plane flew great eventhough ut came out at 33oz without the side winglets. I was very surprised on how it floated around, I had problems trying to land it, she did not want to come down even with the power off. My problem is that she seems to pourpus, dont know if the wings are straight or even the elevator. When I get home i need to look at it and make any necesary changes.

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Hi,
I also was surprised how she wanted to stay up all day, I was under 1/2 power and less, she seems to like it up there.
reduced the throws and added some expo , should help . I got into a bad habit of Going to max and beyond on the throws, this is ok but only after you get a few flights and get every thing set. I find using low low rates and Expo at first helps you sort out the plane with less chance of a loud pop and a wad of balsa at the end of the day.

Hi, you are correct about the specs, with so many variables as prop, battery power you can come in all over the board with different amp specs. I tested my set up with a 12x6E and found only a 1.0 amp drop from factrory specs using an 3c 11.1 volt 1500 mah and a CC45 ESC. Im using the smaller battery for the wgt advantage, just carry xtra pacs and change them out and keep flying.

RE: E-Flite Mini Funtana X
Hey everyone. I've been on a hiatus from RC for a few months (new Harley[8D]).
Today I got a chance to take my MFX out again. The guys called and wanted to play, so I charged up. I forgot how fun this little plane is. I have about a dozen or so flights on it since new around christmas. I'm running a TP xtreme prolite 2070. EF 480. I've burnt out 2 EF ESCs, so now I'm running a GP 45A ESC. Using s-75's all around and a berg 4ch microstamp RX. weighs in at 2lbs 0.3oz
What are some of the CGs you guys are running? Mines too nose heavy, so I am going to do some tail mods.

If anyone has crashed theirs and has parts lying around that are still good, can you shoot me an IM or email at [email protected]? I can see myself getting cocky with this plane and making mistake. I saw that Horizon sells parts but they cost nearly at much as the kit.[:@] Thanks!
