RE: 3D Foamy Decision
Out of all of them that you have listed i find the Super Zoom that i have able to take more abuse and is easier to me then my Airfoilz to 3D with IMO. Olin

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
I've "had" the Airfoilz Yak and still have the Hacker Zoom. The Airfoilz can handle nowhere near the same abuse as the Hacker, speaking from practicle experience. Also, have 3D-Foamy SuperXtra which is an excellent product and check out this out, another plane that I've recently purchased that I got to fly in my court-extremely, extremely durable:http://e-foamies.com/store/catalog/p...8b5f26218d794d

I'd go with E-Flite. I have the:
E-flite Tribute
E-Flite Yak
E-Flite Ultimate
All are excellent 3D trainers. I learned on the Tribute. All are fantastic flying/3Ding planes.

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
Im gonna probably try the Flat-Out Turmoil. I like the design and it flys really nice on RealFlight G3.5 (very good in hover on the sim).
Hey Futaba-Owner, what part of Nebraska are you from? I live in the Scottsbluff area by Chimney rock.

Don't go with a flatout. They are very fragile, overweight, and very difficult to build for most people. I would second anything from Fancyfoam.com. Mike makes some very good designs, and they can take a real beating.

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
The Fomojo is a great airplane, but Billy Hell doesn't carry it any longer. I'm not sure if anyone else does. I think I may have bought one of the last ones from BHRC. I really like mine. I've had the Airfoilz Yak. That one was good too, but not very durable. E-Foamies would be a good bet. They are more expensive but very durable and easy to repair when you do damage it.

I thought they were a really good deal for the price,
When you say that they are fragile, how, it should be easily repaired with CA?
How bad overweight,
Im not really concerned about building difficulty, but Im really attracted by the SFG's.

Alex K, I'm from the Lincoln area. Do you have a RC club out where you are?
I went with the Edge 540T from E-foamies. Still in the building stages but from what I hear it flys really well. Can't wait to get it in the air.
Thanks for all you guys help

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
Hi there
I would like some info: i am buying a Tensor 4D ARF 3d foamie . the specs are
Wing Span: 27 in (685mm)
Overall Length: 30 in (760mm)
Wing Area: 393 sq in (25 sq dm)
Flying Weight: 9.5 oz (270 g)
Motor Size: Park 370 Outrunner Brushless
Radio: 4 channels
Servos: 3 sub-micro servos
Trim Scheme Colors: Painted blue / yellow
CG (center of gravity): 2-1/4 - 2-1/2 in (57 - 63.5 mm) Behind the leading edge at top of wing
Prop Size: 10 x 4.7
Hardware Included: Yes
Speed Control: 10+ Amps Brushless
Recommended Battery: 2-Cell 7.4V 860mAh Li-Po
Also they recommend a R610UL 6CH FM, Shrinkwrap
The 610UL is a high-performance receiver specifically designed for hand-launch gliders, park and slow flyers, or small gas planes up to approximately .30-size. The R610UL, featuring JR's patented ABC & W interference-fighting technology, exceeds the AMA standards for 2im and 3im for unmatched reliability. The R610UL also features an outstanding operating range that puts it at the top of the class in micro receiver performance. The R610UL is designed to be used only with JR brand transmitters capable of FM (PPM) modulation
Is there any othere receiver that will just as well
THANKS

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
I have an extra 300s from great planes.I have not flown it yet but for the price I could not turn it down.As far as people saying that they are dificult to build I found mine quite easy,I havent ben building for verry long either. This is my first flat out build and am anxious to fly it.Its not all that heavy if you have the right set up.I think if you have the power to pull it,it will fly.Performance wise Im not sure how it will act.And like you said if it crashes it couldnt be that hard to ca it back together.

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
Best thing that i have found is to get that Hobby Lobby Yak 54 for $19.00. Buy them 2 at a time. Use some 3M hinge tape for the control surfaces and let it rock. I don`t even waste time edging the the control surfaces before applying the hinge tape. I just leave a slight gap for movement. These are foamies guys! Keep it cheap, grap another and fly it some more. Keep the same plane and the build is quicker because you use the same control rods. I use hot glue on low setting for repair and building. When it is so heavy after many repairs and it starts to look like a glue blob, Grap another one![X(]

Get a Flash 3D from Soaring USA. It's the next design from the Super Zoom guy. It's a great flying plane and can take a lot of abuse.

RE: 3D Foamy Decision
That flash looks good. I like the airfoil. I can never find landing gear on foamies that will ever hold up. I usually cut them off and land on the belly. How are these?
