RE: ELECTRIC CONVERSION
You need a motor that can turn a prop like the APC 13x6E @ about 8,000 RPM for really good performance. Look around for motors like the AXI 2826. For ESC it will be best to get something in the 60A range. Batteries should be a 3S or 4S set up and has to have a capacity of 3,000 mAh and a discharge rating of 20C. For me in a bigger plane I just get a small flight pack instead of buying a UBEC (a device that draws power from your battery to supply to the RX instead of from the ESC to the RX).

Zach, we've written a few articles which can help you select a power system.

RE: ELECTRIC CONVERSION
I'm using a Himax HC 5018-530 motor. A Castle Creations Phoenix 60 ESC. Makita Li-ion 18.5 volt power pack. added another cell to up the voltage to22 volts. Actual voltage off the FMA Chargpro charger is 24 volts. 13-6 APC prop. Accelerates out of a hover for more than half the pack charge. 10 to 15 mins. run time depending on how hard you push it.

RE: ELECTRIC CONVERSION
Look at this thread. The setup we use on this p-51 would fly the snot out of a twist. The only big cost was the LI-PO's.[link]http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=592660&highlight=p51+goes+electric[/link]

RE: ELECTRIC CONVERSION
That setup would pull the wings off going vertical Twist, AUW is 5 lbs right on. As is. I have to throttle back from full throttle for fear of flutter. This one draws 37 amps, so we're close in that respect.
