I was at the WRAM show in White Plains, NY on Saturday. One vendor had a new indoors (can be flown outdoors..) 3D electric. What a neat plane this thing was. It's sort of odd looking, but it performs as good as, if not better, than some of the indoor foamies, flatties, electric planes that I've seen in quite a while.
After their demo flight, several of us from our club, that were there, bought one. We accounted for several purchases of this pretty neat plane that day. It would not surprise me to find out tha they sold out at the show.
This plane is perfect for gym flying. The way they desgned the frame is they have a carbon fiber rod that supports the wings and also acts as a cage for the prop. They were doing some pretty intesting maneuvers with this thing at WRAM. The room was very enclosed, yet the pilots, not pilots from Light Flite, flew the thing. Just about every 'crash', collision, anything, resulted in the pilot simply picking the thing up and hand-launching it again. They used the prop cage to nose up to the cieling and hold it there, on the nose of the plane. Neat stuff.
It's a great bargain. You can get the model alone for (this is show prices, probably slightly higher after the show) $49.00. They will also sell you everything you need.. EXCEPT the RX.. (yeah, servos, motor, ESC, battery, even glue..) for $149. (again, these were show prices, but I imagine that you can get pretty good pricing after the fact)
The instructions are very detailed, and, as I said, you can get everything for the price shown. I started the build today. I expect I will be ready to fly the thing by Tuesday or Wednesday (I can only dedicated a limited amount of time to building because of other obligations. Someone that has the time could build this thing in perhaps 3 or 4 hours. It uses Blenderm tape for hinges, by the way, and they offer some interesting hints for building that I wish I had 6 months ago.
Take a look for your self. The web site is

Well worth taking a look.

Hi Guys,
I'm just finshing up on my R/C Bug. I was told by the folks at Lightflite to use the 2 cell for inside flying and then switch to the 3 cell for flying outside.
Several guys at or club are flying these and I can say its addictive. I actually watch one hit the top of our dome and fall about 70 or 80 feet then just bounce! The pilot actually just did a ROT and was flying again.

The complete kit comes with a 2 cell battery. I will put it together with that but also have a 3 cell handy for outside flying as JZ suggests.
Did you have any issues with that build? I made the mistake of misreading the instructions (I was going to fast with the build and just didn't pay attention) and messed up one of the parts. I dropped an Email to Ron at Lightflite.com. He said he mailed the replacement part to me. Nice guy! Outstanding service!!!
I write our club's newsletter so I am going to put a little article in there about The Bug and see if I can generate some interest in this little jewel!!

PS. What's an ROT?

i ordered an r/c bug this morning. i saw it during the open flying sessions at e-fest. i talked to the gentleman at the table selling the plane also. he is very nice and gave a lot of information. i just found a gym where i can fly it and also plan on flying it in the city park early or late during the nice weather when the wind is under 8 mph. so naturally i am interested in hearing others experiences with the bug. probably many are flying indoors now.

looking forward to hearing about your progress building the plane. sometimes there is little hints to ease the building. even afterward some of the people on this site have come up with mods to improve various models. like put sfg on the tribute. i recieved notice they sent my plane.
