Default Clik XL 52" wingspan

Here's my down and dirty testbed 52" wingspan Clik F3P plane. Plan is to make a 80-100" wingspan version. This one is to test materials and construction and overall flight characteristics. This plane translates well from an indoor feather to a heavier outdoor 3D/pattern flyer. WOW!!! what a plane! My friend and I have gotten about 8 flights on it so far and it is one smooth flyer. Transitions are really smooth. Walls are more pivotal than arcing. No white knuckles here. Very stable and forgiving platform. Harriers upright and inverted are wing rock free. Elevators are straight down with no wing rock. Did I mention no wing rock? KE' perfomance is astounding. 3 degrees or no rudder at all are needed to maintain KE. Rolling manuevers require very little if any rudder due to the generous side area and SFG's. Needs a few small issues addressed but otherwise it flies excellent. Most fun I've ever had with a foamie. Can't wait to do the big one now! Will try to get some video on Sunday. Stay tuned for more developments...

Here's some windy day testing. Gusted to over 20mph by the end of the flight. Clik held its own(thanks to Blakes thumbs). Sorry for the lack of 3D but the wind took the fun out of that. After testing the turbulators by taping them on, need to have more of them, larger fins, and more toe-in(45 deg). Also moved motor and pack forward 1-1/4" to help with tracking. Will try and tape some vid in better conditions, you'll be pleased with how well this design 3D's for a foamie. Enjoy!

Newer larger test vortex generators taped on for testing. If these provide enough braking then 6mm ones will be permantly installed. Will continue with the testing and shoot some video soon.

Here's some more footage of the Clik XL. Testing props and vortex generators some more. ESC had some intermittent problems, traced to a prop with a hairline crack. Will have to pick up some more APC's and a Xoar to try out too. Looks like the 13 x 4 gets the nod on this setup.

Wow.. Excellent vid 3Downlow. Your Clik XL is well ' sorted ' very smooth, love the 'pivotal ' wall.

Thanks! Blake is a smooth flyer for sure. The Clik still needs some CG adjustment forward and the servos need to be upgraded. Probably wouldn't hurt to make all the hinge points with angle stock like the rudder. All other surfaces use packing tape. Not the best for precision, but it works for now. The larger version will definitely need some solid surfaces. Always room for improvement!

Here's another video of my friend Blake messing around Wallaby Ranch with the Clik XL. Enjoy!
