RE: EF 58" Extra-300 BUILD THREAD -- ELECTRIC!
got mine ordered today....question about the rudder servo. i am planing to use a jr4721 i had lying around, chris said its a good choice, overkill i know but i might as well use it somewhere, anyway i dont have the strait dual arm for it, it was in a plane i bought from someone so it just has the one sided arm on it, how long does that thing need to be, i see tower has the dubro pack in a regular version and a long version, i am not sure what one normally comes with thew servo, i am still calling buddies to see if someone has it so i dont buy an entire set for one arm, this is my only jr servo too

I am using a hitec 5625 on my rudder and I am just using the standard double horn that comes in the pack, will measure it later, but it is not that big.

RE: EF 58" Extra-300 BUILD THREAD -- ELECTRIC!
thanks, i do have a 5625 and the arms that came with it, but the jr servo is a tad lighter, not much like less than 1/2oz, i dont feel like bying a whole pack of arms for one arm, especially since i only have the one jr servo, i run hitecks just happen to have that one, if my buddy doesnt come through i will use the 5625 i have, then i can use this jr for a throttle on my next gasser, when chris gives me the new extra for being a good boy, haha [sm=lol.gif]

i cant wait, will be awesome for sure, i think my 45" extra just became a park flyer, meaning i will get alot more brazen where and how i fly it...this one has got to be more grin making just cause of size alone

well got some good progress yesterday and will get more today, the only thing i dont like is the ele attatchment, kind of a pain to get the inside hinge on the side with the joiner, but got it eventually, and it doenst seem like that much holding it together, but i guess its a smaller electric plane so it should be good enough, and you guys havent been complaining of it coming apart or tweaking....would be real nice if the stabs were removable, not cause of space i just like the idea of sliding them on a tube and bolting in place, like the bigger planes, other than that its very nice so far

the elevators are fine, I have had 30 plus flights of all out 3D, and nothing has come loose, so they are not a problem.
As for the esc as far as I can remember I just used the factory settings and set it for 5S, explains it in the first part of the instructions I think mate, had no problems, sorry for being a bit vaque, was a little while ago since i set this up now!
hope this helps

If a charger goes up to 5S my guess would be that it should do 3700, I am using the Ultramat 25 charger, which does up to 7S batteries, all I do is set the cpacity in mAh and then how many number of cells the battery has and the charger then automatically sets itself up to charge my battery at 1C, which on the 3700mAh pack is 3.7A

let us know how your maiden goes. I might have to order a blue and yellow one. Seems alot of people have that color.
I did get alot of attention this last sunday with my red white and blue one. Everyone was just amazed at how nice this plane is.
I am using the Triton 2 for my 5s and some 4s. It is a nice charger, I have two of the older Triton 1's. Never had a problem.
You do want to use a balancer on them. You could get a blinky by Astro Flight or Thunder Power small balancer.
You guys should check out FMA's new Cell Pro 10s charger coming out. It is looking very nice. It even has a built in balancer.
I have one on back order.

I use Flight Power 5s EVO Lite 4250's. I am going to try these, [link=http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_info.php/cPath/2_389_409/products_id/16870]Pro Tek 5s 4000mah battery[/link]
Great price and should be ok.
3DHS has some new ones and should be good. They really test these and I love their planes.

RE: EF 58" Extra-300 BUILD THREAD -- ELECTRIC!
i ordered one of these chargers below, looks really nice, almost went with the triton 2 but couldnt pass this up, should be here in a few days, read reviews on another site and everyone seems to like it....hope to have the plane finished this weekend, maiden next weekend, i dont have much time during the week[&o], if i bust ass saturday possible to be done for sunday, but planing on next week for sure....what kind of flight time are you guys getting with the 3700 bat?? thats what i got from chris, just curious on average
btw thumbs up to chris at ef, i called to ask him about chargers and left a message, he got back to me and chatted for a while, was even willing to go down to his local store and see what they had in the way of chargers, he's a great guy, he could be arrogant or stuck up since he makes the best dam planes on the market but he's not, excellent man to deal with

I would like to know how the charger works for you. I have seen those but never looked into them.
You got the EVO 3700? That is an excellant pack. You should be able to get about 10-12 minutes of flight.
I can get about 12-14 with the EVO Lite 4250's.
Chris at Extreme is a really nice guy. They make awesome planes. I am going to be getting the 88" inch
Extra 300 gasser in a few months.
Keep us informed.

RE: EF 58" Extra-300 BUILD THREAD -- ELECTRIC!
there are two white sleeves as well that sit over the UC and butt up against the fuz see pic (above the spats) the black silicon is meant to go in between these wheel pant type things and join them to the fuz, I used a touch a glue and some white sealer as I wanted to keep it all white.
hope this helps

RE: EF 58" Extra-300 BUILD THREAD -- ELECTRIC!
what have you guys been doing with the switch on the esc? mounting it to the plane so you can turn on/off from outside? i was thining using velcro or wire ties and leaving it inside, since its a quick hatch no big deal to turn it on at flight line and hatch up...
