Hey guy's. I havn't had much time to post. Here's some pictures of my 58" Extra's.
Just got the blue and yellow together last month and flies as good as the red and white one. The Red one is my new replacement from when the first one was shot down. I have them both set up the same except the rudder servo. I just need to get some xoar props now. Also installed a tail wheel from 3DHS's 55" series on the blue one.

The red one is the version one.
It has the two piece landing gear.

The Blue one is the version 2,
Updated one piece landing gear
The front the landing gear area was changed, no carbon rods
The canopy latch pin is taller.
Ball link ends seem to be better.

These planes just look so nice when finished.

my latch pin is hard to move sometimes by hand, guess the taller one would help, after i scraped my finger once i started using pliers, i know its a tad overkill, but it is much easier and safer for my digits

Dave.
how's it goin. On my red extra the pin is shorter like your's. I glued a piece of black fuel tubing from dubro on the pin with rubber ca.
It protects the fingers and makes it easier to grab. I'll post a picture of it.
How's the extra flying?

pictures,
the red extra is the one I glued the black tubing on.
the yellow one shows the latch pin is taller and easier to grab.

she is flying good, i have been messing around with thrust angles, needed right and now seems to need down thrust, definetly coming towards canopy in a hover and a climb out, so i dont think its me, so i got to mess with that, also i tried a 15-7 instead of the 15-8, i like the 7 better, only got a few flights on it so far but i notice easier slow flight imo, still enjoying it for sure
there is a difference in those pins for sure, mine sticks too for some reason, opens easy with the pliers so adding leverage would help, hurt when i got my cutical area the one time, drew a drop of blood too

You can try and drop some oil down in the top of the latch. Mine was a little sticky.
I am using Xoar 15x7 propellars and really like those. The apc 15x8 were cavitating alot.
A 15x7 apc is good. I really the xoar props now.
My motors are pretty much neutral. I will see what mine does in a hover.
I havn't played with right thrust yet.

it started out needing right thrust, then i got that dialed in and i noticed it pitching toward canopy, pull out from hovers and a strait climb, i did it a few times to make sure it wasnt just me, noticeable for sure, even to by standers, so i need to use washers or something on 3 of the 4 bolts i guess now, will get there soon, havent had time...thats a good i dea with the oil, i think i have some old 3in1 around, that will do it, good stuff.... and the 15-8 apc is good, hauls it around fast as all get out, just seemed to take a while to slow down for landings, guess i got used to my big yak practically stopping when coming in, so i tried a 15-6 but that wasnt enough prop, slowed down good but was too slow all around, then got the 15-7, its an apc, havnet tried the xoar, but anyway just got 3 or so flights with the 15-7 and seems to be more what i am used to i think, good throttle response, slows down better, seem to be able to control speed all around better

Hey. A buddy of mine is using 6s and a Scorpion motor with a 16x8 or 16x10 prop. It flies ok. Kinda heavy with the two batteries I think.
I like the 5s setup witht the Torque motor.

Dave,
let me know what you find out about playing with the thrust issue. I'll look at mine this weekend when flying them to see what
mine is doing.

Hey guys. I have been flying both 300's alot. I am using the Xoar 15x7 prop.
It slowed the planes up a little which is ok and they have really good thrust. No cavitation pulling out of a hover.
They look really nice on the plane too. I'll post a picture later.

i settled on an apc 15-7 also, the thrust seemed like it needed right, then some down, i put washers on 3 of the 4 bolts, seemed to be not to o bad last time out, close enough for me

Here is some data logging from my extra 58 flights.
First is with a 14x7 xoar electric, SEcond is from a 15x8 APC E, both flights mostly aerobatic with some light 3D
I'm running a scorpion 4020-415 and 6S 3000 maxamps 45HV Castle

I have a flying buddy who is using Makita’s LXT 18V Lithium-Ion batterys. They are 3000mAh and he sets his timer for 9 minutes of sport flying. Packs sell for $70 USD.
