I'm building a Formosa and wand to brace the wings. Has anyone tried using the square carbon "tube"? Looks to me like it would be stiffer than the round rods. Thanks for your input. Dennis

With "normal" power levels the stock glassfiber spar is quite adequate (mine has about 150W). If you feel like using carbon, you can.
Other's have managed to break the tail behind the wing, so that is one area you might look at if you want to do reinforcements. I just smashed the nose a couple of times, before I got the hang of flying low wing planes... I suppose a solid block of steel would have survived those "arrivals" OK.

Thanks perttime. I'm looking at a 180 W power system. I've read alot about people running CF rods down the fuse to strengthen it. Seems that may be a good choice. I've been flying a slow mid-wing and a bipe, neither which are as fast or agile as the Formosa, so it will probably get a few bumps along the way. Once again, thanks for the reply. Dennis

I have flown my formosa for two years with no extra bracing. Running 150 watt himax and a 10x7 prop. Fly in a congested area, have tag trees full throttle, sign post and a cpl other things. Still flying today just a tad bit uglier. Really have like this plane
