I have a few 3S 2200 mha Lipo batteries laying around from my helis, and I see that there are many new small airplanes available.
So which new 3D airplane that can make use of this battery size do you recommend?


Also I have a Himax 2015-4100 with gearbox, 12x6 apc prop, castel creation esc, and 1350 mha 3S Lipo, that are looking for a new home, what airplanes can I use it on?

3Dhobbyshop sells some 47" planes that use 2200mah 3s batts. REALLY nice planes.I got a Blue Velox and it was sweet but destroyed it at the maiden flight when the rx crystal failed.

Check out the 3dhs SHP.
It has a huge following, they say it is very forgiving and predictable.
3d, precision, it can do it all.

I'll throw my vote in for the 3dhs Velox too.
It's tame and relaxing on low rates, while also being ferocious on high rates (4s).
I hear it will float around happily on 3s, but on 4s its incredible.
I'm very happy with mine.

The feedback looks very positive for this plane, I have contacted 3DHS and I am going to place a order for the Velox.
Thanks for the advice, but I just have one more question, I have 3S available and read that the plane flies well on 3S and insane on 4S, will I have a good pull out of hover with the 3S motor setup?

I have the AJ Extra 300 from 3DHS. Was supposed to be the best thing going at the time, I find it Ok, but just average. Am still looking for something in the under 60" area that will outfly a Airfoilz or Tribute. ENJOY

Are you sure you had an AJ extra from 3D HOBBY SHOP?

If so you have the only one ! that i know of ! There is the AJ Slick from 3DHS You can pre order it but first production is still on the ship coming from china

problem is, where do you buy it from?
Tower doesn't list it, and if you type in GPMA 1550, it shows up as no item.........................sorta glad now though as i see the light and am ordering one the Extra 300 SHP 47" from 3DHS...............those birds fly like crazy and the quality is much better.

ya man, im in the same boat. I have owned a couple of the electrifly extra 330s, and a electrifly yak 54, the yak felt like it would fly great, but it always had issues with wing flutter on both the elevator stab and the rudder stab in knife edges... scary.... the extra ok with the 2100mah 3s packs, but in all honesty, im a pretty hardcore 3d pilot so i need the plane to work with me other wise i end up witha pile of balsa. With the extra i kept on throwing the cg farther and farther back, untill it looked funny flying, and regardless would still fall out of hard turns. I don' t believe this to be an issue with the airframe however, just the fact that a greatplanes bp2100 15c 3s weighed aaaallllloootttt. So im now ordering my 3rd extra airframe tonight and am planning on purchasing a couple of 1500 3s 25c packs, with the ligther pack, im dropping nearly 2.5 ounces which is a ton for a plane so small, so that shoudl put the wing loading right were i want it. but i will report in a few days. I threw that in not as a complaint of the airframe, but more so the fact that I knew you would be using the plane with your exsisting 2100mah packs, so just wanted to give a fair warning. but grab a few 1500 packs and im sure she will be awsome. great looking plane.

If you want something that will snap roll do not get an addiction!!!
It just looks plain crazy trying it is toooo stable to snap!
Get a 3DHS plane , you will never fly anything else once you get the first one!!

This would be my first choice for a 3D airplane. Great performance, and it rocks doing 3d

PA Addiction is probably your best bet. You will get tonnes of flight time with the 2200 and the Thrust 20 motor they include in their combo. It has feather light wingloading, perfect for learning 3D, 3D's incredibly easily and is pretty durable. Though like another poster mentioned above- it doesn't snap roll well.

Thanks guys for all the feedback, definitely the SebArt Katana 30S looks good, but I think I will go with the 3DHS velox, I am just waiting on a quote from the vendor, because it will be international shipment.

The Velox is an advanced 3d ship.....very pitchy but capable of some violent tumbles and spins......it does one of the most stable harriers youll see for a balsa. I love mine. On 3s its fairly tame.....on 4s prepare to have your hair set on fire

Why no one mentioned the EFlite Extra 260 is beyond me?? 2200 3C and a 480 or equivalent = near perfect.

Dunno about the 3DHS products. I have the 3DHS extra SHP and the SR, both good fun, although the SR is on 4S. The SHP is a bit tame compared to the SR or the PA Addiction. I found the Addiction a better 3D ship on 1800mAH, but the 2200 may be a bit heavy and so you might lose the floatiness of the Addiction that is so appealing.

What C rating are your batteries? For the 3DHS products you will need a high discharge rating to get them to fire. I use TP at 25c. For the Velox I'd be looking at 4s setup to really get it to boogey. I think this sentiment is echoed in the threads too. If you do go this avenue (and the planes are superb quality) I've found Rob at ADChobbystore good to deal with.

I' d be looking at the eflite extra 260 or the PA Extra. Just my 2c

My 3S are 18 - 25C, I don´t want to go the 4S route because I don´t want to buy more batteries and the reason for this projects is to reuse some of the staff that I already have.
I just completed my order with Rob and got a Velox and because I also have a spare motor laying around I got the electric trainner that 3DHS have, I sow the video and it flys quite nice, I will use it more for sport flying and maybe put on floats.

Great.....25C is what I would recommend for the Velox . 18C will get pushed pretty hard....which motor combo did you get?
