Hello guys, I am looking to get a Rx for my Extreme Flight Extra 300e 45"... I have a Futaba 9c, I do not need a 9 channel Rx but a 6 or so would be real nice
.... Found a place to buy smoke for the little guy... I have to try it out... This is the link to the site:
http://robotbirds.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=129_128
I don't know too much about all this, but I believe I have to have a Futaba Rx and that is difficult, I can't find any 72 Mhz Rx's...
Also, if any one could tell me how a Xoar electric 14x6, 14x7 and 14x8 props would work out... 6mm or 8mm???

If you are looking for a reliable but cheap RX try the Corona 8 Ch synthesizer unit, I have tested it and its really nice to use. You can get it online from Hobby City. As for props ... what motor are you using? If its the stock motor then a 14" is not the way to go. A 12x6 is a good start and you may go up to a 13 x 6.5

Ok, I have taken a look, and the only good receivers are PCM and I don't believe I have that one...

How would this work, and does anyone know how the range is.
Thanks

The Tower brand 72MHz receivers are a good bargain, and they appear to be just rebadged Futaba receivers. Here's a link to their 8 channel RX for $50, including the crystal!

I've had a couple of these, and they work great!

I'll still take the CC rx .28 oz vrs Fut 1oz with crystal. I fight for hours to rid 1/2 oz from small electric planes. Then factor built in tx recognition and failsafe and the CC wins hands down.

OK well you guys have me in a pickle... I don't know which to get, the Tower Hobbies 8 channel is really nice, and lighter then Futaba...
But the Castle Creations 7 Ch is even lighter and only 1 or 2 dollars more .....
I fly strictly 3D so which one would be better for that... don't want a Rx burning up while I get down with my stick movements.
Thanks guys

The Castle Creations Berg receiver is a fine receiver, but it's $9 more than the Tower receiver, not $1 or $2 more. The Futaba and Berg receivers don't come with a crystal, you must purchase that separately. The Tower receiver does come with a crystal.
You need the following crystal with the Berg:

If size & weight were an issue for me, I'd probably pay the extra $$$ and get the Berg.

Neither Futaba or CC rx's have failed me ever in any way. It just comes down to how much you can pay. But concider, if you ever want to try putting the gear into a foamy only the CC will work.

Well I have come to final solution... I got one of these 2.4Ghz micro parkflyer for the 6EX... I bought a Futaba 6EX 2.4Ghz today for $140 shipped to my door with insurance... so I'll just switch from 72Mhz to 2.4Ghz.... Thanks for all the ideas, after thinking about crystal issues... and interference... I think it would be best and since I can afford it why not
Thanks for all your guys' input... Sorry I kinda wasted your time but in reality you guys saved me from wasting money on a synthesized Rx.
Thanks again
