So I finally got my yak 55 flight flex together and had to go maiden it last night. THis is my first decent size electric (use to flying glow at the field with wide open spaces) also my first 3d plane. It flew great, I did keep it on my low rates but it was such a blast I probably ran before I was comfortable walking and started trying to do tricks. What also didnt help was it was sun set and the temp dropped pretty quick so my fingers were pretty numb by the end of the flight.
Inevitability between numb fingers lack of dexterity and trying to bit alittle more than I could chew I got close to the ground and i did flare enough to keep it from nosing it it kind of belly flopped a bit, so it was kind of a "landing" but quite a rough one.
The plastic motor mount snaped off the wood block (again I assume the cold didnt help proabably made the palstic more brittle). What would people recommend? I have to grab some foam CA to touch up the rips to the foam cowl, but how should I reattach the motor, can I just ca or epoxy along the break and glue the motor mount back on, My only worries is if the motor ever burns out it will be a pain to get that motor mount off if its glued rather than just a screw. But I was leaning towards glueing it back on. Any major reason why i shouldn't?
thanks
