Cermark Banshee
 

Anyone have a Banshee. I have flown mine with their recomended motor and speed control and three three 1500 Kokam li-poly,s and this thing is great. I would reccomend it. Tim.

Yes i fly it on the three 1500 3 cell Kokams with a 15" prop and it is very aerobatic and is very light. You can tell it was designed for electric flight. Tim.

I juust got three Kokam 2000 mah 3 cells for it if they will fit in there.Any way i'm sure you will enjoy your's. Tim.

I have flown my Banchee today with a Hacker B5011s,6.7:1 GB using 10- 2400nicads and a 15x10 APC e prop. The plane seemed to fly rather slow.I manage to do a few loops and rolls
but the power to do anything else just wasn't there.I landed after about 1 1/2 minutes and the motor seemed quite warm.Any idea where I went wrong?

skyblue. All my flying has been with li-polys so i can,t say for sure what your problem is but you usually have to try different prop's to get the best performance for a particular airplane.I do have a Hacker brushless in a Electro Streak and it is very impressive.I have dabled in electric,s for many year's but the li-poly's have re generated my interest.You get longer flight times and they weigh much less than ni-cad's or hydrites.and with a dedicated charger and some caution in charging you can have a ball. Tim.

B50 11S is usually used with 12cells and 18"

so my first suggestion is for you to switch to a 18x10 APC E.

as long as the motor stays under 110C (about 230F) it should be fine, land regularly and check the temp on the first couple of flights.

this motor on a 4s3p TP li-po equals a good .91 4stroke :D:D:D

Skyblue.This plane was not designed to go fast as this will probably lead to flutter and possibly tearing off one of the control surfaces but it sound's like you should have more than you descibed. When you do get the set up worked out you need to use throttle management. Tim.

the motor is not the problem. Need more prop. Do you have something to check temperature with?,..like the raytac infra-red "gun"? I use the B50 9S with 6.7 gearbox, 3S3P lipoly (equivalent to 10 old roundcells), and 16X10 APC "E" prop. The temperature thing really means nothing at all unless you have something to actually check it with and have real numbers. I personally can't hold my fingers on a motor thats 135 degrees,.. so that could be percieved as "really hot",..when it's not. No need to be concerned untill you hit 200+ on the motor at the end of a flight. As an aside, someone at SEFF last weekend was concerned that their motor was getting "extremely hot", and they were limiting flights to 3~4 minutes and allowing it to cool. I checked their temps with my raytac device and read 126 and 129 on two flights. I call that "cold" in brushless motor terms :)

Are you running the Cermark 600 brushless recommended on the Cermark site? I'm looking to buy the Banchee, 600 brushless, MEC gearbox, Phoenix 45, and 10 cell 3300gps.

Thanks for the threads, they are very helpful. What motor setups do you and others use? I'm thinking about the Cermark 600BL with Superbox and Hacker C40 with MEC superbox.

Mainly the C40, it's cheaper then the c50 setup and will give you good performance. Great(balistic) performance is with the c50 6.7:1 17x10 and 6c packs. THose are rockets. If you read through the post, I know there are alot of them which is good for info, there is just about every motor combo out there on it. I switch between the cem and hacker. just to play with it.

Thanks, I think I get the Cermark brushless and the Hacker C40 and try both out. For the money that Cermark 600BL is a bargain but we all know you get what you pay for. Hackers are hand made and about the best out there. Anyone selling a C40 or recommend a vender?

If your going to get both. Get the cem first. fly with it, it may be enough. It has enough power to do anything.

I love mine with the Mega 22/30/2 and 16X10 on a 3S4P. Ended up taking the C40 out in favor of it. A littel overkill as I had to gear it down substantially, but it gave me more punch nonetheless.

Great video and I like the stripes on the bottom of the wing. After reading the long build thread, I see a lot of guys running the C40, 6:1 superbox, 17x10 prop, and either 10 cells or lipos. I'll give that a try too and see how I like it.

With the c40 6:1, If have the gen II lipos it will draw 58 amps static. with the 17x8 it draws 48. I fly mine with the 17x8. After a 10min flight the motor is around 140-150F. Batt are low at 100-110F. I'm running Gen II 3s3p6000 and 3s3p6300 thunder packs. the 6000 is 13 oz while the 6300 is 16oz. The 6000 flys better being lighter.
If you run the 17x10 really really watch your temps. I'm pretty agressive when I fly though. Alot of vertical climbs , water falls, knife edge spins etc.. right after each other.
I'll try to get some vid for you. I just pulled out the Cem motor and stuck the C40 back in. The bigger prop 17x8 from 16x8 gave me alot more propwash for the slow stuff.

Thanks for all the advice. I think I'll start with a 15x8 or 16x8 props for now. I just purcashed some 10 cell GP3300 and will eventually get the 4180 3 cell Apogee. I saw Gary Wright fly his Banchee last weekend and can't wait to get mine in the air. That guy can fly!

Can't wait to see the Cermark 600 brushless video.

im planning to get the banchee with 3S Apogee 4160 and CEM BL2 motor with MEC superbox 5:1 I read the thread on RCGroups about the CEM motor and it sounds great.

I'm looking at buying this plane with the CEM 600 Brushless motor. Whats this MEC Superbox you mention? Where can I get it?

Does anybody have a review of this plane posted with the CEM 600 motor and Lipo cells?
