RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Hey Everybody,
I cant figure out how to start a new thread? Is there anybody out there that can help me? |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
tylerman you go to the top left and it says new post. there is where you start a new post. max
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Thanx I think i got it now
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
you DEFINITELY need to try the accelerator. It'll practically make the glue joints hard in less than 10 sec... I think even less than 5 sec. Just make sure that the kind you use is foam safe. I got mine at my LHS and it works great.

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
BoneDoc, wha kind of accelerater did you use? Was it foam safe-
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
I have a hobbytown nearby, and that's what I got. One of those generic ones that's rebranded with the Hobbytown brand.... sorry I couldn't be that much more helpful than that:)

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Its all right, I dont really care
Man im starting to get really impatient, I cant fly and wont be able to for another week- My 2208/34 Got a bad bearing and we sent it in. Good thing though Hobby lobby is sending me a whole new motor:D |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Are any of you participateing in this thread Experienced electric fliers.
This is my first 3D foamy( we have much more of an investment in nitro planes)and i was wondering how well it compares to other 3D foamies. I know that the Hell Raiser a great flier but this cant be the only one in the world that flys as good:eek: |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
I wasn't too happy with the 2208/34 and TP 1320. But then again my weight was close to 14 oz. Flew better with 2212/26, but too nose heavy (I forgot that a little tail "dead" weight is not that bad of an idea)... so I got tired of it, and stripped the radio gear for another plane (Stevensaero Stella... flies better IMHO :))
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
from the look of it, Quasar flies well, and the Microbat flies really nice too. In the world of foamies, you got several options... well mainly 2 big ones, profile / non-profile. There's something to be said about real airfoil.I never really got around to dialing the HR right, and I abandoned it for the SA Stella. I think it flies better because it has a wider flight envelope (pattern + 3D), and I'm in the proccess of really dialing it in :).

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Hey BoneDoc,
Check out the thread i just posted on the Quasar--Quasar 3D Bipe No body has said anything but maybe you could help pick it up:eek: |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
lol, for that money, I'd rather get balsa. The SA Groove is the next plane I'm eyeing on. The PA Katana looks very promising too. but still too far away. I heard Doug from MM is working on a katana design also. I don't have an indoor club here, so I'd rather have planes that can handle some wind. For the money, I think 3DFoamy is a better deal (even though I haven't purchased one yet).

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Does the microbat have a built up fuse like the hell raiser?
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
yup
just go to nesail.com. It looks like it's a really nice indoor flyer |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Looks like a good plane, I dont know i think that i will stick to the hellraiser though.
It has a good prices and flies like a much bigger plane-Compared to others like the quasar wich is 90 bucks[X(] |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Bone Doc,
You said that you had the 2212 in your hellraiser. Was it sort of sluggish in slow flight because of the extra wieght? |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Run a 2212/34 on 3 cells with an APC 11x4.7 SF
9.0 amps @ full I weigh in @ 13.9 oz with an TP 860 CG is right on. |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
definitely was better than the 2208. But to get the CG right, you need to drop down to sub 1000 mah battery (unless you want to add a little bit of tail weight)
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
How are you guys getting you planes so light[X(]
With the 2208/34 and a TP 730 i still wiegh in at 13.4 Ounces. Oh yeah, i had another question-i know the first set of digits in 2208/34 mean. But what does the 34 mean? Because there is the /20, /26, /34 series what is the difference between them? |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
I believe the second number is the wire wind count. I think more winds means better efficiency (longer flight times) but lower voltage.

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
second set is the winding of the motor. the lower the number, the higher the kv, hence the "hotter" it is. It means it produces more RPM at a given voltage. Good for speed, or gearing purposes, but if you're tryitn to turn larger propeller, it can't (draws too much amps).
in general, higher KV motor is more efficient, but not able to swing big propellers (unless geared) HTH Josh |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Oh i didnt know that. thanx guys;)
|
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Hey by the way...
AXI has an awsome return policy My 2208 got a bad bearing or something and the motor would freeze up while i was flying-[:o][:@][:'(] I sent it in and it was covered in scratches and stuff from me and my dad trying to pull it apart and see whats going on They just sent me a brand new motor:) Model Motors is starting to become one of my favorite motor companies- even though this is the first electric brushless motor i have ever had. |
RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Here's a great link to see these amp/thrust relationships
http://www.flyingmodels.org/index_en.htm Look at the "Great Electric Motor Test". One additional point, while a lower KV motor can swing a larger prop at lower current, it probably will produce less thrust for a given prop. So you may have to swing a larger prop just to get the same thrust. A good parameter to read on the above tables is the "efficiency" rating, or thrust per amp drawn. This will tell you how much the system is working to provide you with thrust. Choosing the motor/prop with the best efficiency will give you the longest flight times. RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Oh my gosh- I am sooo pissed,[:'(]
a couple of days ago my mom was doing something in my room and she stepped on my HR wing, and it crushed it[&:]Snapped it[:@]and twisted it:(. I just got my motor back in the plane and flew it like 10 minutes ago and it does all kinds of crappy stuff[sm=confused.gif] My mom offered to pay for a new plane but i said "no i'll fix it" and as soon as it was in the air i wish that i took her up on that offer[&o] I tried as hard as i could to get everything good and straight but the aileron still has a twist in it Oh well i guess that i am going to have to live with it:eek: |
