3D Hell Raiser
I just finished my Hobby-Lobby/Horsefly Hobbies and thought I would post some pics prior to the first flight. The kit is a nicely put together kit with good instructions. The build was straight forward with no hang-ups. I decided to go with two aileron servos so I could encorporate flapperons, but have not needed (afraid) to use them yet. It is just like others have posted "Flies better than it looks".

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Yeah I will post some more pics shortly. I am not sure on the exact flying weight, but I did try to build it as light as possible. I knew it was going to be a little heavier than 11.5 oz documented flying weight with the equipment I was putting in it. I had two decisions while building this model, One servo or two for the ailerons, and my AXI 2208/34 or my AXI 2212/26. I opted for the two servos and the 2212 turning a APC 10x4.7. I am using Thunder Power and E-Flite 1300 li-poly's. Performance is Amazing! 15+ min 3D flights. I have not yet tried using different props but plan to in the near future.Let me get those picks going, I'll post them shortly.
I also have a Hacker B20 18L+4:1. Any thoughts on throwing that thing in this A/C?

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
If I change the motor from AXI 2208/34 to 2212/34 with the same 3-Lipo, will it be better-off in terms of power, current consumed? Can I still do the hovering and other 3D manuvers with 2208/34 and 2-Lipo?

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
well, have now 4 flights on my Hellraiser too. My setup is Axi 2212/34 with APC 11x4.7 Slo Flight and ESC Phoenix 25. All 4.4 gramm Cirrus servos (2 on ailerons) and a 3S1P 880 mah lipoly pack from www.falconbatteries.com (10C discharge and gives me over 10 minutes of full 3D flight). The AUW waas exactly 14 oz.
This thing totally ROX, and has plenty of power to spare . Even though the weather conditions where pretty windy for a foamy (15 mph wind and gusty) it flew great. Knife Edge hovers and snaps so tight it's unbelievable. Cant wait to wring it out in calm conditons to get some solid hovers, wateralls, and flatspins in. Harriers nice too. I felt totally comfortable after the first flight already. The only thing I am going to change is the CG (needs more aft) and probably switch to a 12x3.8 APC prop.
If you have been playing with the idea of getting one, don't hesitate. This thing flies so much better then my other foamies. It flies as solid as a Giant Scale plane but weighing only 1 lbs.

Mike the site looks good. Check the 2nd Hellraiser link under your kits section, not the title one the lower one I think is says something about ultimate biplane. When I tried it I was sent to the Geebee page. Looks good though. Plane flies awesome.

Hi Guys,
kits are in stock.
I think all the bugs are out of the site now.
Now I can up-date the site with new porducts as they come out.
More videos will be added and maybe a prototype section!
Thanks for all the kind words,
Mike Glass

That is a sweet idea Billy. The first time I saw the Hell Raiser, I saw you holding it plane, and at the same time I was introduced to the 1000 mile stare. Hilarious!!

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Hi John,
I am useing 2" Maxx produces wheel. Plastic 5 spoke hub with a black foam tire.
Very nice wheels! You will need a prop adapter. Check the specs. on the motor for the shaft size. I think it a 3.2mm adapter. I use odorless Zap Brand because thats what is carried in NY.
Before you start building check out the new "Tips & Tricks" section I have added to my site.
I have a short video on how to fold the foam fuse sections correctly.
So your finished plane will look better and your kit will build easier!
Thanks,
Mike Glass

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Plane looks great, watched the video on HL. I know most are using an AXI but I have a Nippy 1812/100 laying around. Do you guys think that would work? To much, to little?? Is there such a thing as to much?
Thanks
Thanks

Hi,
I have a Nippy 1812. It would work, but you will have to bolt it to the front of the firewall.
Its not going to fit inside the fuse.

Looks great.
I think I need one.
I have two questions:
1. How would it fly with my Axi 2212/34 and 3cell 1500Kokam?
2. Do you have any in stock?

Zagibond,
Hobby-Lobby has a very large following and they advertise!
The name of the game is to do volume! The kits are a great deal of work to produce
and the only way to make any money at it is to do volume!
Plus their very nice people!

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
OK its on the way!
So I'm standing in my LHS and the guy said he has a hell raiser on order. Supposed to be any day, I say I'll take it! Not sure if I want to bolt that Nippy 1812/100 on the front or spring for the AXI. So I have an 18 amp JETI controller what AXI would be ok with that and a 3s Lipo 1200-1500 pack? I have a few electeric planes but I am still vague about turns and windings[:-].
I dont know about that Billy Hell pilot though, it just ticks me off that he has hair and I dont[&o].

RE: 3D Hell Raiser
Got it!
Looks like great engineering, great workmanship on the cutting. Fit is tight and straight. Lots of CF. Very impressed so far. Despite watching the video, I managed to crack the fuselage, No biggy, just a little one.
I was surprised by how small it is. I am used to a 36 inch Extra. (I guess 6 inches makes big difference )
You recommend an Axi 2208/34. What battery pack do you recommend? 3 cell or 2?
Please anwser soonest as I want to order for the weekend.
