Recommendations For Tribute setup
I have an E-flight Tribute but I haven't purchased the servos, motor, receiver, battery and esc. I am looking for an inexpensive setup that will allow me to hover and practice other 3d maneuvers. Please let me know what you are using.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
You should use the hitec Hs-55 servos you need 4 and use whatever receiver you want we use the electron and then motor. It came with one right ? I dont know how much $ you want to spend but the Himax-2015-4100 and the 25 amp castle creation with 6.6 to 1 gear ratio on our foamies dad has the Ultimate from horizon he just got it lastweek and it flys great on this set up...
oh yeah the motors about $75 speed controller the same we use the 3 cell Li poly packs go to maxxprod.com they have all of this or go to fancyfoam.com he sells the stuff to. hope this helps |
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
As I started putting together my list I starting thinking that it may be a good idea just to buy an edge 540 from fancyfoam.com with the high performance kit. I can put the electronics from the kit into the Tribute. Once I crash the Tribute I'll just transfer the electronics over to the Edge.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Good idea, especially if it saves some money.
The brushless motors are so much better. |
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
I just got a Tribute, has anybody flown this plane with the factory motor?, I don't have the funds for an upgrade.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Some people posted info about using the stock motor over on rcgroups.com and they said that it sucked. You can see the thread at http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...4&page=1&pp=15.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
To have much fun you need a brushless. Himax motor around $52. Phoenix 10 around $45.
Well worth the money. |
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Here's my setup.
EFlite 370 5400 brushless - $48 Jeti 18 amp ESC - $60 Hitec HS55 servos X2 (I think around $20 ea) Hitec HS81 servos X2 (probably $18 ea) GWS Rx can't remember price, probably $20 Great Planes 1500 11.1V Lipo - $46 Thunder Power 860 11.1 Lipo $39 GWS 10x8 prop |
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Boy, this foamy is costing as much as one of my nitro planes[X(], I ordered the stock ESC yesterday and a 2 cell li-po, I wish I could of ask this question earlier, is the Eflight 370 brushless a direct replacedment for the stock 370?, will it fit the gear drive?, maybe I can return the ESC to Horizon for an exchange.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Yes, it's the same size as the 370 so it fits right in.
Sure electric is expensive for the good stuff. So is gas the gas stuff. Don't worry, the performance is there. |
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Well, I guess I'l look into parts exchange, I think the esc can be exchanged, but I not sure about the 2 cell li-po battery or maybe suck it up and upgrade later[:@]

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
The 2 cell will fly it around nice. The 3 cell will make it hot.
|
RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Well, I'll see first hand how it flys stock, I can always upgrade later and put the old gear into something else.

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
use the stock motor on 3 cells and you will get good performance. I have aver 40 flights on mine like this. A freind has the e-flight 370 motor on 2 cells and it is awesome perfomance it will fly straight up out if sight. I put my 3 cell on his plane with the 370 and it is just insane!!!

RE: Recommendations For Tribute setup
Thanks for the input, I'm building it stock with the 2 cell li-po, this is my first foamy plane and electric, more like an experiment for future projects.
