I have this fantastic idea!
We're going to have the DOWNONTHEDECK WORLD'S for 4 MINUTE FREESTYLE! And, everyone that can fly a 4 Minute Free is going to be able to compete! How is that possible? Because it is going to be an email-in-your-video event!
I'll round up some sponsors (i4c is now in as a sponsor, next I'll call DA, PowerfLite, and Kangke) and great prizes... I'll get Steve Nelson (of TOC fame) to handle the judging... you start working on your 4 minute free routine and your video taping skills!
More details and information to follow. I'm thinking categories now. In addition to the main scale planes... maybe an electric category and/or funfly category. How about a Freestyle Warbird category? lol Also, please email in your feedback!
Confirmed Pilots:
Mickey Crawley
Garrett Morrison
Joe Hunt
* I'm thinking a $20 entry fee.
* Cut off date around March 1st 2003.
* Early response makes me think I'd better limit the entries to 100 overall so the thing doesn't get too big for me to handle.
* AVI or WMV format... no editing or dubbed in music. This has to be a contiguous video (realtime) with live music.
* The top 10 will get their videos posted on the site.
* All details subject to change as this thing evolves.
SPREAD THE WORD!

What if we just posted our videos on our sites and gave you the link to view them? I dont think that sending them through AOL would work very good... lol
Anyways, about the fee, 20$! i would imagine the most would be like 5$ or so... i dont understand this, when i go to meets they charge you for using there club field and there runway, here we use our own runway, and tools... where did you get the fee from?

Well... I'm thinking that alot of people are not going to be that computer sophisticated. I'm thinking I'll allow actual video tapes, as well. And, I figure to host all the videos on a servo for a few months or a year. Probalby a year. I'm going to change that fee to say "some kind of fee will apply." All of the current details are subject to change. But, I'm going to charge a fee that will cover the events expenses... so we'll see what that turns out to be.
