Default this hobby is spensive

Getting back into it after a 8 month hiatus. Last plane was a wh baby edge with a dle30. Bought myself 3 toys yesterday. Hitec Aurora 9, Wildhare electric slick 540 and a Redwing 30cc mx2. $$$$ The mx2 will also be a brushless plane. Can't wait to get these babies in the air!

All is relative - buy 3 Harleys for your hobby and see what is left of your pocket.......RC is relative cheap compared to other hobby interests.... luckily...

All hobbies are expensive. When it affects your lifestyle, it's a problem.

RC has a lot of bang for the buck, and teaches patience. Boats, tho, are "like burning hundred-dollar bills in the rain". Great babe magnets, even if you're old & ugly.

The hobby has forced me to become a bottom feeder.

I've downsized beyond belief and I'm still trying to sell great stuff. PM for list.

I buy used or throw aways whenever I can. I'm looking for used Robart Warbird 3.75 wheels. I have a Thread for them used.

I'm told, I'm not alone down here. [&o]

Hah... I've always said this hobby is only expensive if you crash and destroy them. Its not bad when you can keep them in one piece and have something to show for it.

BTW... what a great looking 'Stang Zach.. I've always wanted to do a car... maybe if I sell my room full of planes that weren't very expensive.. I could probably come very close to that 30k. (Don't tell my wife that though.. )

It's all a matter of perspective. I know dudes who spend money on beer in a way that would fill a house with nice airplanes very quickly. And it's dirt cheap compared to medical bills or therapy. Plus it's better for you than either meds or beer: you learn a lot, meet good folks, expand your horizons, and occasionally walk way out there with the trash bag of despair to pick up some pieces. Which helps keep one grounded and humble. By comparison to other things in life, RC is a bargain that has many benefits.

r/c is my cheaper hobby, money in my hopped up dodge diesel and elcamino would keep quite a few of flying for many moons.

I'm unfortunate enough to be doing both hobbies: RC and boating. However, I haven't found boating to be nearly as bad moneywise as everyone makes it out to be. Not much more than owning another car really, but you got to be able to do most of your own maintenance. Could also be because I refuse to buy a twin engine. I think once you do that, it really goes up. It's fun to combine hobbies though, I bring an RC boat and occasionally a seaplane onboard out to the cove. Gets quite an audience!

The boat is a Stingray 230 SX, which is a 23' sportboat. Good compromise between being able to wakeboard and cruise around in. She has a GM/Mercruiser 502cid fuel injected big block, pushes her to about 70MPH GPS. If you like engines you'd want a boat like this- the roar from the thru-transom wet exhaust is like nothing else!
