Default tail sections: flat or airfoil???

it will be naturally balanced if you put a bigger engine in!

By the way
Make your flying wires out of carbon rod and they wont loosen and they add virtually no weight at all.

Here's what I'd suggest you do.

Use a flat built up tailgroup.. The instead of traditional flying wires.. drill holes and thread some kevlar thread through the stabs to form a diamond. Make sure it's tight without deforming the surfaces, and then add a couple drops of CA to the holes in each surface. It'll NEVER loosen up.

There are other ways of stiffening the tail. A couple of methods I have used are:

1. Carbon tows. On the GP Cap 40 I have nearly finished, the tail is made of 1/8" stick, then sheeted with 1/16". This makes it pretty strong, but to beef it up further, I laid carbon tows on each side of the trailing 1/8" stick before sheeting. Probabaly added max 2g, but the tail is now rock solid.

2. If you dont want to sheet but keep an open structure, glue a thin strip of 1/16" ply to the front edge of the trailing edge stick. Note that this is then vertical. Again it makes the tail very stiff with little weight added.
