Default Magic Extra Flat Spin

I can't seem to get my Magic Extra to flat spin. I know the control inputs, and can do it with no problems on G2 (with a 3D plane). I've tried it at different throttle settings all with the same result........I start feeding in opposite aileron VERY slowly, and then all of the sudden, the plane rolls out of the spin........do you think I might have too much expo on my ailerons??

14" I think. The recommended CG is 3-3.75".

MMMMMMM. try moving it back a tad. get the maximum movment posible and use full power in the spin when it turns flat. Make sure the CG isn't too far back. if it is, some planes wont come out in the normal way.

May i ask what the engine, prop and trows are on the aircraft?

Ian,
It has a Thunder Tiger Pro .46, with a 12.25x3.75 APC prop. The throws are higher than the recommended "3D" throws in the manual.

I have not flown one yet, but explain the attitude of the plane as your playing with the ailerons.

either try moving the cg back, or get more elevator or both, try different throttle settings also

Hi glowplug,

Try this thread:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...agic+extra+yet

I believe some have moved their cg's as far back as 4 1/2 and
4 3/4 inches. Hope it helps.

Default Magic Extra Flat Spin

I have this plane.

I can do a flat spin upside down that kind resembles a kite spinning rather than a true flat spin. Right side up is not going to happen. I worked on moving the CG back until I finally got a good flat spin and one time the engine died. Well, it came out of the flat spin OK but, when I started to turn slightly towards the runway it snapped. Again I corrected and this time with only a little up--Snapped again and again and again all the way to the ground. It came down slow so it was and easy fix. CG is now 4 7/8" from LE any farther back and you will probably start to have the same problems I encountered. It was 5 1/8" when it would not recover. I even tried a little throttle to help it out some. but still didn't work. The Magic Extra will not stall at the tips like most aircraft. So, "Snap Rolls" look like a wild roll and Flat spins -- kite that is spinning. I will say it's still fun to fly.

Try to abruptly stall it. Maybe try to blender it into a flat spin?

According to what Robert said, moving the CG back probably won't help with the flat spin......
Southern Touch, maybe an abrubt stall might help.......so how do I get into a blender? I'm kinda new at this 3D stuff

try an upright spin but rather than feed in aileron slowly speed it up. let the plane spin about 2-3 full turns. Make sure you got into the regular spin by getting a good stall. That is how my Magic (not magic extra) goes into an awesome flat spin. If I fed aileron slowly it would mush out of it like you describe.
