I am looking for the most capable .60 size 3d arf anyone here has ever flown. I will first recruit suggestions, than will put up a pole using the ones that look the most promising to me and see which one i buy in the future.
Approximate specs
60-80" wingspan
6-8 lbs
EXTREMELY LARGE control surfaces
Wing loading no higher than 18 oz sq.ft
if the plane you reccomend it just a bit out of one or more of the bounderies, that is perfectly ok, i just want to give you a guideline as to what i am looking for.

hmmm...
60 - 80" and a .60 size motor?.... Nope!
My 64" Edge flys with a .61, but no vertical or hover... Needs at least .90 2c.
I can't imagine too many 60 - 80" wingspan birds that hover with a .60 size motor sorry.
You'd need to be around 40-45" for hover with a .60 IMO

The U-can-do 3D is pretty good at doing 3D style manuevers using the right setup. I hope you do not plan on using a 60 two stroke. Please state the engine you plan to use it would be helpful. The Extremeflight Extra should be a monster in this class. Definately want to use the YS110 with this one though.

I will 2nd the opinion of RogWabbit. A 60 size 3d aerobat will need at least a 90 or bigger in my opinion to excersize its 3D potential
60-80" span is a very wide spectrum and covers alot of different styles that are available. I have been wathicng the progress of ExtremeFlightRC and there has ben poistive feedback on their current lineup.

The UCANDO 60 is a good choice as well if you want something right now and dont want to wait.
good luck

Top models REBELOVE, cut 90mm of the back of the fus before fixing the tailplane and you have the best knife edger, best prop hanger best 60 size plane full stop ! It's not scale though it looks like a plane, you can't have everything, or can you?

Love at first sight. That extra from extreme flight is for me. It fits my requirements like a glove. a couple quick things though. #1. how do i contact these guys at extreme flight? under contact info there is nothing that allows me to reach them. no numbers or anything. #2. How's the covering? My cap 232 has probably the worst covering there is. It looks great, i mean really great. But that polycote ecs stuff is just junk. So, i would like to know if the covering is kinda tough or no. Third, Where can i buy this plane? I need it to be online.
This plane is everything i wanted. It has control surfaces that are large enough to probably snap the plane in half, It doesn't weigh a lot for it's size (my cap is 650 square inches of wing, and weighs about 8.5 lbs, the extra has 850 and weighs just shy of 8 lbs with a ys 110, i hope to put in it a ys .91 supercharged. it can swing a 14x14 prop, so if i can get it to swing an apc 15x6 prop at 9500 rpm, i will be geggin 11.3 lbs of thrust out of it) Looks great, and best of all, it is an aerobatic compeditor to the cap. So it will probably fly very farmilliarly just with a lot more kick behind it. One more thing, does it have any nasty habbits? Does it snap roll when you wall it, does it drop a wing at landing speed, and will it nose tuck when you give it rudder?

It will be about another 5-6 weeks before the extreme flight planes are shipping. last I heard chris was in china OKing the shipment so they could do the slow boat from china thing. If possible you should probably wait for it, there is really almost nothing good available in 60 size 3d
Call chris hinson at 678-546-3670. You could also PM or email wgeffon here on RCU for more contact info

Depends on who designed the plane. When it comes to models you cant say any type has any tendancy to do anything. Designers fudge a lot of variable to get the plane to do what they want.
Thin airfoils, sharp leading edges and high wing loadings are designed into some planes (pattern/non 3D) for clean crisp snap rolls, better entries into spins...etc.
Planes that are more 3D orriented, like Extreme Flight's planes, have thicker airfoil sections, round leading edges and very light construction for light wing loadings. This reduces the tendancy to snap and allows for smoother transition to post stall flight/3D.

the only thing i am concerned about with that plane is the rudder. it doesn't look like a lot. my cap has a lot more than that. is that rudder particularly effective on that plane or is it in need of a little enlarging.

It's not the size that counts but the position, by position i mean the distance back from the wing. Long 'moment arms' can cause rudders (elevaters too) to be 'soft', regardless of how big they are. Likewise if a rudder was too close to the wing it would just create drag and not 'turn' the plane.

i have heard about the funtana having nothing but quarter scale ailerons on it. i am more interr4ested in the extra because it is .60 size. i like that size, it's nice and comfortable. i have not been able to contact this guy at extreem flight rc at all. i have emailed him three times and i am gpoing to call today. my dad doesn't want me to call a lot because last month i rang up a $40 long distance calling companies like tru turn, tnt landing gear, richmond rc to complain and ask for suggestions, etc.

What about the new OMP Yak? It's advertised as exactly what you're looking for. It's a profile, not sure if that matters, but if it flies as good as they say, it's gonna raise the bar a notch.
