Default The Matrix, it does exist!

Page 75 of the October Model Aviation. The Goldberg Matrix is here!

It's not in it's original form though...Not a Seduction clone anymore. Looks like Lanier got that...I think the color schemes Goldberg has are much better than those Lanier schemes.

This thing went through some major changes. Bigger fuselage, bigger wing, new wing design, new tail desh, cowl, and everything else. I think it's ugly. Sort of an odd wing design.

They say it will do all the high alpha stuff like harriers, but I seriously doubt it. They say it will be 5 to 6 lbs. Doing my ARF math, I get over 6 lbs when it's all said and done. 662 square inches of wing area and 6 lbs...I doubt it will 3D well, let alone even hover with a .46. I'll be interested to hear how they end up flying though...Might be better than I think.

It does look like it will be a good flying airplane of course, but it could handle losing 2 lbs and that star on the wing.

I don't plan on buying one, but figured I'd let you guys know it's out there.

I agree with everything you posted.

I expected the Seduction clone, like it used to look. I thought the original red and white looked good too. The new color sucks.

As for the Lanier & Goldberg thing goes, aren't they one company now anyway?

I may still end up with a Razor, but the price looks to change. Lanier says $199, and Tower has it at $273. I was in hopes of a Tower price of $149 to $179. Usually they are a tad lower than manufacturer direct. The Matrix is no longer on the wish list.

Yes, Lanier and Goldberg are one...

If it actually sells for $273...Well...Do I really need to say anything? I think it will end up being closer to $200, but they sure aren't going to get too many orders at 273!!

I dunno guys. I eagerly ran home today (after seeing BotleRocketWar's post about the Goldberg Matrix being real) to see my copy of MA. After being slightly disappointed with the looks/cost of the Razor, I thought that surely the Matrix couldn't disappoint... Well, the covering looks *better*, but it's still a lot like the Razor. And then there is that "ugly" factor.

I was really looking (and, well, I still am ) for a replacement for my Venus (RIP). At 5lbs exactly (RTF, dry) with a Saito .72 it was a REALLY fun plane-- and for around $150 a decent price. No, it doesn't have an air-foiled tail and isn't that good at 3D, but it really is a nice little package. I was amazed when I first saw the covering scheme out of the box (yeah, even the pink wings are kinda cool-- nice copy of the Japanese/Chinese pattern ships). I just really wish that GP would make a 90 or 120 size of this plane (and add air-foiled tail, increase 3D capability, and keep the price decent! )

As for price on the Matrix, my guess is that it will be higher than the Razor...

Brian: Where do you fly in KC?

I have anxiously awaited the arrival of the CGM Matrix 3D since the posts I saw here several months ago (the Seduction clone). The original looked excellent with a very attractive scheme. The 'production' Lanier version was a real buzzkill.
