I am sure this has been gone over before but I can't find any threads on it. So What is the best engine for this plane (DA 100?) and how about the CG plus are there any problems that need to be taken care of to keep the plane in one peice or is the ARF OK the way it comes.

Default hanger 9 cap 232

I HAVE BEEN FLYING THE H-9 232 SINCE LAST YEAR, AND I LOVE IT...

I HAVE A ZDZ 80 SINGLE CYL. WITH A 26 x 10 MENZ.

IT WEIGHTS 22 LBS. AND BALANCES ON THE TUBE.

MY TANK AND BATTERY ARE ON THE TUBE. I MOUNTED THE RUDDER SERVO AT THE WINGS TRAILING EDGE AND USE PULL PULL TO THE RUDDER. I USE A TOWER TS 80 SERVO AND CAN DO KNIFE EDGE LOOPS WITH EASE AS WELL AS ENVERTED INSIDE LOOPS FROM THE TOP WITH A 4 POINT ROLL FROM 3 OCLOCK TO 9 OCLOCK.

ITS A GREAT PLANE AND THE ZDZ 80 IS VERY LIGHT AND HAS GREAT POWER . UNLIMITED VERTICAL!!

I've seen one with a BME 102. It's Chris300s' plane. Only seen him fly it a couple times, but it had plenty of power. You can see some pictures of it at http://www.ribcrackers.org/gallery.php?id=82

Thanks for the input. I am leaning toward the ZDZ 80 since it looks like the plane would balance without any trouble. I like to keep wing loading down if possible and have heard from a lot of people that with minimal break-in the ZDZ has the power.

I have the cap with a zdz 80 and having enough power isn't a issue. Its plenty, for the cap. All my servo's are in the stock location, and my battery's are right around the CG. No Balance issues here. I have also watched two others set up with a zdz 80, and they flew great. It was watching those two planes that made me want the same combo they had.

I only have 7 flights on mine as I just finished it, but even with that low run time on the motor, I have plenty left over for pulling out of trouble.

I have noticed with this plane. If you could tape the elevator, stick all the way back, and set the throttle. it would harrier itself. (almost anyway)

I have one that's awesome on the BME105! It has gob's of vertical and on a Mejlik 27x10 it rockets out of torque rolls. I'll be flying it at the Midwest airshow this weekend. The DA has more power (28x10) but more weight too. I'm at 23lbs. with 2 receivers and 1700mah packs. 2 servo's are mounted behind the tube for rudder as are the receivers and batteries. Carbon gear, carbon wing and tail tubes (I bent the other one's, hitting the pop-up's too hard). Balance is perfect, maybe a hair on the tail heavy side. I saw one flying in Tuscon with the ZDZ80 on pipe and it was super quiet with plenty of power. I don't know how the 3D was since the pilot didn't fly it that way. I'm inclined to believe that you could fly 3D with a 4.2 single on it.

I have seen a pilot fly a demo with this plane. It did 3D very nicely for its size. IMO he made it perform the same as many TOC models. Were talking harrier rolling circles 10 ft. off the deck and torque rolls out of this world. Harriers and high alpha looked good too.

Thanks George,

The wing tubes and gear came from Troy Built Models. The tail tubes 1/2" came from Frazier Briggs shop in New Zealand (if I remember correctly). They were a little undersized so I had to wrap them with 2 layers of fiberglass.
