Default Learning to fly 3d

I have been flying rc for 50 years. I need a new challenge. I would like to learn to fly 3d to whatever extent my flying skills are capable of. I don't currently have a suitable 3d airplane. I assume that a lot of the learning (and crashing ) can be done on a good flight simulator, which I also don't currently have. Untill I get a 3d capable airplane is there a simulator or simulators that I can learn on ?

so you can get the feel for how a proper 3D plane flies like, and you can spend endless hours having fun and not fixing and buying a bunch of planes. after the sim, get a proper foamy with low cost servos and motor and batterries and have fun, try all the stuff you learn from the sim. Once comfortable, step up to a better airplane.

Long time flyer here as well. I will warn you in advance that you are headed down a path that may become very addictive? Just me, but I grow bored flying on a sim pretty quickly. If that happens to you as well, suggest that you pick up an electric powered profile made from EPP. EPP is durable, but when it breaks it does so cleanly, and it's easily reglued using about anything, including CA. Regular CA will not react with EPP.

Best of luck! -Al

I also get bored fast on the sim. I would recommend something from DWFoamies. I have the 38" Juka. If the wind is down these are a great tool. Second choice would be a profile like a MOJO. These only come in kit form though so you will need some building skills.

Flying a lot is the key to flying well

If you get stick time in your yard every day or in the parking lot at lunch, when you take your gasser out on the weekend you WILL fly better.

Same with simulator time if you take it seriously and attempt to learn something, when you start flying into buildings or trying to knock a wing off and fly around, then its time to stop.
