Default Hype 3D Engine?

Well, I got my Hype 3D yesterday and am about to order an engine.

So, do I pay £80 and get an Irvine .53 or do I pay £165 and get the Weston Eurotech .50T1 that Weston recommend??

What are you guys using/wishing you'd used?!

Rgds,
Mark

the best combintaion for this plane has to be the west 50 t1 and pipe.
i have seen them together and they are well suited.
fantastic throttling, smooth transition, swings a big prop, utter reliability, what more you want??

Agreed. The West T1 is a great motor, got one going in my Capiche. Theres another thread going by YNOT and I think he's very pleased. Also Welsh3d had one with the Irvine 53 and overall I recall he wasn't very happy. Yeah its double the price but its only money eh?!

Thanks guys, Eurotech 51 it is then!

Following Hercmate's outlook that "it's only money" I've also got JR8411 digitals all round - at least I know I'll never run out of grunt on those surfaces even if it is a tad overkill!

The West 50T1. It is worth the extra money.

Yesterday flew my Flip with a Irvine 53 with a Tower muffler. The planes weight the exact same, 5lbs 4oz's and the West blows the Irvine away.

Also, I'm starting to really like the 13-4 on the Hype.

Get the West, just get it, you will never look back.

As a slight twist on this, I have a Funtana which is asimilar size to the hype and about he same weight, but the os46FX in it isn't up to the job.

How much thottle does the 50T need to prop hang and will it pull out wih authority?

I have been wandering if this could be the way to go. It's either the Weston and keep the weight down or an OS91FX or Saito 100 to be sure of enough grunt.

I'd guess the funtana is about 5lb and a bit so whats good for he hype should be good for the Funtana.

Cheers.

well...........my flip isnt light()(5lbs) but the 50t1 will hover it at just under 1/2 power, TRing at 1/2. with a 13x4w prop its amazing.

Just to say, well done for getting a funtana in england, i cant find them, or isnt your H9

Yes it is a H9

My local shop, Liskeard RC Models got it in as stock about a month ago. They are petty handy at getting hold of kit if you're struggling.

I'll have to put my Funtana on he scales to be sure of the weight, then I can choose an engine. Chees for the help.
