I design all my airfoils by tracing around old sneakers. I've had much success using a modified Nike-12 lately.

An airofoil?!! he he edible strikes again.

My amazing, fantastic, brilliant but very very dead gizmo II had a kinda under cambered section which looked really cool (!) but i'm not sure it did the glide performance any favours. Difficult to tell really as i never produced one with a normal section.

At the end of the day i think wing span and chord (and hence area) are the most importat aspects of the wing on a fun-fly. From personal experience the section is only really important for the glide but if i knew the optimum section then i'd be using it! Apparently the Cougar 2000 has quite a good glide, and since you have one you may want to experiment with that. Dunno just mess around like me and your bound to design a good'n eventually!

Not so sure on hroachen's method though. Surely those sections would only be good for trainers?

All i will say though is don't be tempted to have a really stupidly thick section as they just don't work! terrible glide performance. Dan Workman's designs have had quite thin sections (for a fun-fly anyway) so don't think that fun-fly = comedy wing = amazing manoeuvrability!

But hey, prehaps Reebok's the way to go!

Its hard to say what the best airfoil is without knowing other things about the airplane such as wingspan, fues. length, and a target for your wing loading. My suggestion is to pick out a FF plane that you like a lot and try to think about ways that it could be improved upon.

I thought that was self-evident... A NIke-12 is off a size 12 Nike.

I always use VORTEC airfoils. Those airfoils give you the opportunity to always fly constant speed, no matter what throttle you have. The same speed is on the low throttle as on the max.
It also gives you the ability to not use flaperons. The covering does it all itself.

P.S. You won't find that airfoil in the internet resources. IF you want it just write it over here and I will tell you how to draw it.

I don't really know the whole procedure. My friend told me that in for example a loop there is a difference in pressure and the whole covering is working. I can't really say how it works.
This airfoil works best with the tip covered in balsa and the rest only by the covering. I will later write and make some photos of how to draw this airfoil.
P.S. I can only write something in the quick reply. Why can't I also submit a "normal" reply and start new threads?

I`m using the E169 (14.5%) with very nice results. high alpha with no problem; will try it at 16-18%
