Default flex mount for OS 160

Does anyone know of a good flex mount for an OS 160? I know the Hydes are good, but a little pricey for my H9 Edge that I bought just for fun.

Dubro makes a 1.20 size aluminum beam mount with isolators that should be able to hold the 1.60 okay.

Yeah, check out www.probuild-uk.co.uk to see some mounts and their prices. I think www.rcaerosport.com has a little bit about mounts, but it might be for the YS only.
hope it helps,
Robert.

Default Why?

rcchris,
May I ask why you want to soft mount your OS160? I think the only times a soft mount is necessary are:

1. The fuse is fiberglass and very rigid or light
2. The fuse is extremely lightly built and needs the protection
3. You're running a strong four stroke with very violent power pulses, and one of the two above plays a role.

The H9 Edge540 is a wooden structure is quite sturdy too. I can't see an OS160 shaking anything apart on that plane, and a soft mount may even rob you of some top end power.

Just my humbe input.

I am going to try a Gator mount in mine. Some of my friends had succes with it using YS Four strokes and it doesn't require a nose ring. Available from Gator, Radio South, Central Hobbies, etc.
Piedmontmodels.com has a homemade one that looks compelling in the tech section on their website. On NSRCA.ORG there are some good pictures on Hanson's Roto mount in the Tech section.

I have a gator in my Flair G-202, and its seems to do the job alright for the YS 140L.

I have an OS 160 FX mounted on my Dave Patrick Ultimate. I have heard that the firewalls tend to come off these planes, so I've been watching it closely. Compared to my Ultimate, the Hangar 9 Edge is a TANK! I don't use a soft mount, nor do I feel it needs one, even on a very light plane like this one. On the Edge, there's absolutely no reason to add the additional weight or complexity of a soft mount, not to mention that you're never going to be able to use a muffler with a soft mount. With a tuned pipe, headers are a problem, a Pitts style muffler on a soft mount will probably last less than a half dozen flights!

I have an O.S. 1.60 FX mounted to an H9 Edge with a Dubro 1.80 sized antivibration beam mount. Why? 'cause I had it on hand. It works great, but it's pretty heavy. I'd use a backplate mount, if O.S. makes them....I think they do for the 1.60 FX.
