Has anyone tried this? I just got a conversion head for my OS .46fx and it's swinging that prop at 8600. Since you want a light plane, big prop low pitch wouldn't these fill the bill? Seems like you could have a pretty small engine thus decreased weight... BTW, at first I liked the smell but now it just smells like I've been on my tractor all day.

Sorry that I forgot to mention that it's a 12x8 so I would imagine a 13x4W would swing just fine. I've only had the diesel for 3 days now and am amazed that a .46FX would turn that prop like that. I had my Saito 72 turning the 13x4 on my Magic Extra until the midair with the earth... Oh well, it needed that dirt bath anyway...[&o]

you are not going to get it done with the 12x8, that is only 4 lbs of static thrust.
However, using the 13x4 you should spin the prop at 9700 rpm making 8 lbs of thrust, that would do it.

I'm putting the DP 1.20 Ultimate together with the YS 140 DZ. Most of the 3D ARF's I see in a .40 size need something much bigger than a 46 (Funtana with a Saito 100, Magic extra with at least a Saito 72, etc.) With this DZ I'm going to be going through some fuel so I thought that in the future before I go broke with fuel I'll trade down to some large 2 stroke, put a diesel head on it and at least get twice the time/oz fuel. Looks like no one has tried this though...

So it looks like I'm finally getting this thing tuned up and I can spin a 12x8 at 9600 rpm. Maybe I'll take it off the kadet with floats, put it on some light 3D ARF with a 13-14x4. If I do I'll report
