Default UCD.15

How do you like my idea of making a small UCD.15? I want it to do full 3d. Just like it's bigger brothers.
These are only the photos of the side and stabs mounted to see how it looks. I will use VORTEC airfoil.
Unfortunately I don't know when I am going to finish my plane I don't have time.

Should work out great. I've got a Fun 15 that's a total blast with an OS 20FP. If you keep it under 2 1/2 pounds it'll be awesome. Only drawback is that the small stuff gets blown around more in the wind (actually I'm not to sure thats a drawback, it's actually a lot of fun sometimes)

Have fun!

This is not going to be my first .15 3d model. It is going to be my 3rd one! I have already build something similiar to Magic and a Komacro. I am recovering my Komacro right now, so I don't have enough time to build the UCD. I wanted to know your reactions on this idea.

Nice work there, I would build it, test it, change things and sell it!! Im sure you can find a mass producer for it

Diablokid that's a good idea. I could then make money for building giant planes. I could make arf's or kits in Poland, but first I have to find someone who could do laser cutting for me.

Would anyone be interested in UCD .15 kit? How much would you pay?

thats a relative question and you will get a variety of answers. For a 15 size plane I have seen the price from $35-$50. I have the Lanier Shrike 15 kit and paid $35 for it. Just an idea

ExtremeFlightRC has just released a 15 sized 3D ARF for $89. You can see it here: [link=http://www.extremeflightrc.com/product_html/Mini3D.htm]Mini 3D[/link]

You also might want to post this in the KITS section. Also for maximum benefit consider testing it with a electric motor and sell it as an E-plane, the ezone.com has a huge community thats active and im sure you could get a response from them on this well

good luck

The best idea would be (for me) that I would sell license for this plane or contact any of the manufacters. Could somebody help me in choosing? I don't think that I would have some opportunities in Poland.

I may be interested, pending a flight report. If you get good (for a 15 size) 3D, meaning stable harriers, hovers, and elevators, as well as good aerobatics (tumbles and knife edge are good), I'd pay $30 for a wood pack and plans.

Keep us posted on the progress. Please post all specs you are comfortable with. It looks like you have a good start.

At least come up with some quality plans to sell ($10 maybe). Selling kits from where you are would be tough.

Also, I would not recommend using anything like the UCD name. GP would get pissed really fast. I saw a company last year selling a giant Somethin' Extra, and Sig went ballistic. I guess the design was different enough to be sellable, but the name was too similar, so he changed it to get Sig off of his back.

Just A suggestion.

I agree with tailtwister, build a few and make sure you have a solid product before venturing into kitting it. Im sure once you have a solid plane you will find someone to help you get ti to market. There are many mid sized manufactures that could assist.

Lets see a flight report and some vids

I think that I will have some flight reports but no sooner than at the beginning of next year.

I am sure that my friend is also going to build another prototype, if he will see mine.

What is funny I have never seen an UCD for real!!!!!

TO ALL UCD OWNERS!!!!
What can I change in the overall construction?
What are the proposals for the new name?

make sure the fuel tank area of the fuse is ligned up properly with the carb! Mistake on the current ucando3d, makes it easier to flood the engine when its not lines up properly (or at least I have heard)

Also consider making 2 servos in the tail for elevator and maybe a pull pull for rudder?

2 elevator servos is too heavy for a .15 size plane. Definatly 2 aileron.

I will try this model in few versions.
I will surely use 2 Hitec Hs-81 for rudder and elevator.
One Hs-55 for the throttle
and here are two versions:
-One standard or HS-81 for the ailerons,
-or two Hs-81s for ailerons.
I have seen and made( my Komacro) few japanese models. They use 6 micro 9gr servos (same as HS-55): 2 for ailerons, 2 for elevator and 1 each for throttle and rudder.
The fuel tank will surely be ligned up with the carb.I always try to have it this way in my models.

I have never seen an UCD for real. I hope that when I am going to sell some plans or kits I will buy myself one!!
