Default Safety?

Hi,
Is anyone else out there getting worried about how this hobby is getting unsafer?
I mean, peoples attitudes have changed alot about the planes now I think, that they are not machines to be taken seriously, but they are toys for a laugh. How many times have you seen someone fly lately, and think about a place to hide? I know that accidents will happen, even to the best of the best, but why does it seem that there are alot more accidents happening, that look like they can be prevented? You all must have seen it before, someone with the surfaces reversed, or the inside a wreck after being sloppily repuilt from 100s of crashes. You wonder, can it really be safe to be around while this "thing" is flying. Just a while back, we got a preview of someones plane on this forum, which couldn't be safe to fly, just couldn't! On the subject, these planes are getting bigger, and some peolple again just don't seem to realise that its experience that makes you able to fly big models.
I have heard of people going on from a second plane, onto a 25% one after passing their test. Sit back and look around, models around the 33% mark are becoming alot more available to people now, regardless of their experience. I am not sure about the rules on what you need to fly one of these, but the truth is that they are more dangerous, and need to be treated by someone who knows they're stuff. Look at a TOC plane, around 3 metres, 37 pounds, 40% size, 17 horsepower engines, thousands of dollars. You have to sit back and look around, to see what these things really are! The bigger they are, the harder they fall. Unfortunately, someday, there will be a crash, and its not going to be a simple plant in the field job.
Just to see peoples reactions.
Robert.
