Hideho all,
Personally I think that too many sub forums is a bad idea. Pattern, 3D, precision, all fall pretty much together.
The activity is faster paced, you get quicker responses and there is always new material to check out.

Please don't seperate them!
I learned about the Seduction Freestyle in the combined forum. Which one would it have ended up in if we had seperate forums?
I might have missed it.
I feel that there are way too many forums now, and some of them could be combined.
One request: Define some of the For Sale forums. For example, would a $25 20"prop go in the Miscellaneous forum, the Small Stuff Under $30 Forum, the Engine Parts forum, or the Giant Scale forum. I can see why some guys double post. It's very confusing!
Thanks for asking!

I'm a wannabe pattern flyer. I consider 3d a totally different animal, gauging from the content of 3d posts, and the pattern posts are hard to find in the glut of 3d stuff, much of which gets to be repetitive, redundant and repetitious!
Separate 'em.
Separate 'em.

Is the 3D category intended to include IMAC?
IMAC is pattern flying with different aircraft and slightly different rules. Anyone interested in RC aerobatics would end up reading both anyway, so it's easier to keep it in one forum.

votes are still almost split on this one...if you have not voted please do so and be heard...I make this site what you guys want it to be (since you are the ones using it!) so let me know how you want it!!!

almost an even split so far...I'm thinking I may have to make it so you can choose to combine posts into one forum as a preference or can check them off to seperate...you guys gonna make me do more programming, huh? If it's split I can't see any other way to make everyone happy...

Isn't asking the users half the battle? Any quickie tests on what RCUniverse users actually do to get to 3d/pattern information? [Note: 'Do' is the active word there, not what users 'say.' They are two very different things.] Would adding another required click be a pain in the butt? Are the subjects far enough apart to justify splitting... and thus potentially loosing the pollination of all the cross-posts? Just asking.

NO, NO, NO. The worst problem of any forum is not knowing when to stop creating subforums. Don't do it. To many subforums has ruined the new RCO and is why I am here.

This is not the right place to make a split. It would be better to create some top level groups and then have forums within them.
Suggestions for top level groups are:
Building (warbirds, kits, arfs etc)
Engines (include support forums, glow, gas, giant, etc)
Electronics (include batteries, radios, servos etc)
Flying (warbirds, kits, arfs, IMAC, pattern etc)
Crashing
Selling
Wanted
and so on...
Regards,
Craig.

I think separation of the two is needed, but I see very little pure pattern threads. I am afraid that a pure pattern forum would not do well. It seems a lot of people want 3D stuff.
