3D Spirit
I received the new Quantum Models catalog today and in it is an airplane called the 3D Spirit. Does anyone have this plane yet?
It looks like it may be produced or distributed by Horizon.

RE: 3D Spirit
Thought I would dig this thread back up.
3D Spirit is Thunder Tiger and distributed by Ace Hobby as far as I know.
I've been waiting to hear about how these fly, but it seems no one has them yet.
the specs look ok just a little on the heavy side maybe.
Anyone have one yet or know what the delay is?
Bill

RE: 3D Spirit
I saw this plane at the AMA show in January. Actually looked pretty light. Aft fuse was designed with top and bottom keels, then fleshed out with stringers. The rep said earliest was probably around March time frame. It looks like a good airframe for a Saito 91 or 100.
What's the price from Quantum?
I'm hoping that all the 3D offerings will start a price war between all the distributors
Consumers win as long as quality is not compromised.

RE: 3D Spirit
I saw the 3D spirit at the model hobby show in Chicago. This thing is built LIGHT. It looks weak behind the wing where the fuse turns into stringers. The ailerons and tail surfaces are cut out of one flat sheet which seems like it wouldn't be strong enough? It kind of looks like a Flip 3D rip-off with that tail. A Saito .91 or .100 would be insane power on this thing!

RE: 3D Spirit
Thanks for the info.
Why a 91 - 100 engine?
If it's light a good .46 is all that should be needed for unlimited vertical.
I'll be on the lookout for this plane.
But for it's size, if it requires anything over a .46 it's too heavy for me.

RE: 3D Spirit
To me, it looks like someone tried to ARF a Seduction Wildstyle. At a minimum, whoever designed the 3D Spirit, had a real good look at a Wildstyle before he started to draw.
In their ads, the flames look like they are stickers. Lose the stickers, cover the movable surfaces in the color of the rest of the plane, and it might be a looker. I don't know why companies mix up colors the way they do. Yellow, purple, and red? []
I'd say at 4 to 5 pounds a YS 63 or Saito 72 is perfect. Any hot 46 two stroke will be good. The 91 and 100 are a little overboard on this light of a plane.
It's the end of May now, any word on a release date?

TailTwister is spot on looks like the wildstyle from OK Models even same amount of ribs and same skinning in wing. Nothing flies like the seduction range in small size planes. Will get the Casablanca going next week if I am lucky it flies like my wildstyle but in ARF form.
