Jeff William's (Sledge Designer) is now kitting an electric version of his Sledge design.
TheKat, 3Ddreaming and I had the chance to fly it a few weeks back and its a fun one!
He also has an electrified Extra.
Kits will be in ARF form.
Standard set-up... GWS 350 brushed, Razor or Himax brushless

Any other standard information about it? Will the Hacker B20 15L work well with it you think?[8D]

Steven, The airplane comes with a mount block for the GWS gearbox. I saw where Dick Hanson was running a Hacker in the GWS box if you go that route it should work. Tom

I started in this hobby around 1977 (best memory serves anyway) and these foamies are some of the most fun I have had to date. To be able to fully 3D indoors while it is cold outside is just awesome (yes they can be flown outdoors also). If you are not doing this yet, do not withhold, whether you are interested in my planes or not you will love this foamy 3D thing. Jeff Williams

3Dreaming is the one flying in the video and I think he needs to change his user name to 3Doing. Not dreaming!

Wayne, thanks for the kind words. Even though I have learned to do some 3D I still have a long way to go. This airplane has helped my learning a great deal, and I can't wait to take it outside with some of my other airplanes. It is really nice to be able to pop into the hanger and fly to keep the thumbs limbered up. As a side note I still go to sleep with visions of airplanes dancing in my head, at least some of the time. Default Sound, no video

I never have much luck with WMV's. A friend tried to load the video, but all he got was sound and a "decompressor error." Doesn't anyone use mpg's anymore? The mpg1 format seems to be pretty universally accepted. WMV's always ask me to go load something, and then I get stuck with an empty browser and sometimes sound.

I'm very interested in getting something that will keep a Pro Bro happy flying indoors, and judging from Jeff's reputation, I'm sure his new E-Sledge is everything he says it is.

Do you guys have a web site with any mpg's I can see?

You most likely just need an update of you windows media player. You should be using V9.0 now to see this vod.

You can go to Microsoft.com and get the update.

HMMMM cough cough (I have not received them yet) hmmm cough cough. I am looking forward to seeing the extreme flight stuff. Jeff W.

I have never been able to play a video that Wayne is closely involved in and a few other's but I can play other's and they work fine with the windows mediaplayer and I haave downloaded the #9 version I guess something in a few of these sites just conflict with our particular computers/programs :-(.

Just a shame one of the better providers of cool video's dont work for me :-(.

Hey mabey put them out also in real player and or quicktime :-) for us Tech challenged :-).

Wayne,

I don't have admin privelages at work (fast connection) and it would take over 2 hours to do it at home on dialup. A friend was able to see your vid at home and said it was cool.

I was just trying to give some friendly advice. If ya want to sell those planes, think about using a format that most people will easily be able to see.

WMV is a windows proprietary format, and needs codecs for it's compression algorithm. As you've found, they're great for storing huge long videos on your machines, but you can't share them with all your friends running different software than you have. Microsoft likes it this way.

MPG1 is lossless (bigger file sizes, longer downloads) but it's been around a while and many more browsers know how to deal with them.

Here's a short tutorial on formats I found while searching "mpg vs wmv format" :

Is there a way to convert the saved .WMV files to MPG?

Default Flight pac for E Sledge ?

Was wondering the flight pac needed for the E Sledge?

Engine's, best Brushed and Brushless and Batteries and Speed Controllers for each?

Best Servo's ?

Best reciever? I'd guess the new Berg digital 5 Ch with ch 1-2-3-4 and 6. ???

Need to make a budget before a buying decision is made :-).

Thanks, Dennis

RealOne player will play WMV files. I still run 98 SE and the newest (#9??) Windows Media Player isn't compatible with 98 SE. So all of Waynes videos play in slo mo/jumping on my WMP. But open it up in RealOne and they play great. RealOne sucks, it takes over your volume settings for example, but it will play the new .WMV

Default Video!

I was able to play the video using Windows explorer (Netscape didn't launch it right, my bad).

Also, I noticed Wayne moved the video to his "album 7" area and this made the link he posted stale. It should be here:

http://www.mw3d.com/albums/album07/SledgeE.wmv

Neat plane. I want one!

Thanks, Dennis

Dennis, on set up, the model in the video was using a Razor350 brushless motor in a GWS gearbox with D (6.6-1) gearing. A MPI micro rec. MPI 50HP servos for rudder and elevator, and a Hitec 85 for ailerons. 1200-3cell E-Tech lipo's. 25amp CC speed control. You can go with the stock GWS set up and it will fly OK, but I would recomend a HiMaxx 2015-4100 for the best bang for the buck. A min. 15a brushless speed control. 3 Hitec HS55's or equals. The Berg would be a good choice, or FMA M5 ?. The 1200-3cell lipo's are a must, and I really like the E-Techs. Tom

Dennis, I don't know if it's the "Best" (I hate to use the word "Best"...what's best for one guy might not be the best for the next guy) but I am using.

Himax 2015 4100 Brushless. I wouldn't consider a brushed motor, there are some good brushed motors, but this motor is only $50 and is just awesome!
GWS Gearbox, D gears
Castle Creations Phoenix 10 ESC (If buying a new one, I'd get the CC P25, but the CC P10 has worked great...)
Berg 5 RX
GWS Pico BB Servos (I have a HS 55 on rudder and have had to replace it..the GWS servos have all been running fine, Flown hard since September...almost daily use) I use a servo on each aileron, so I use 4 servos.
Etec 3S 1200 Lipos

OK, there is my set up. I don't know if it's the "Best", but I sure like it.
