Default Flip 3D Troubleshoot Help

I'm havin' quite a bit of problems w/ my Flip.

*Struggles to hover.
*Very shaky on harrier.
*Pitches hard towards belly on KE.

Setup:
*West 50 T1, w/ APC 13x4W
*JR DS811 all around
*Weight: 4lbs. 13oz

Initial CG started on 5½" then was gradually moved back ¼" each flight and is now back to 7". Right thrust is about 3°. Control deflection: is about 45° all around. Spoilerons were used, but only seemed to make it worse.

With all these changes, it's flight characteristics have naturally changed (especially landing), however, specified problems continue to remain.

Any advice would be helpful.

Hi

Ive has most of the same problem, but niow ive got em sorted.

*Struggles to hover.
In what way?

*Very shaky on harrier.

Try reducing the elevator movement. I had 100% on mine and it was horrible in high alpha, i had no confidence with it. since then ive reduced it to 60%. Try this first. Then add proportional spoilerons (see http://www.3drc.info to see how to do it), not too much tho ive got 80%, it doesnt move allot tho.

*Pitches hard towards belly on KE. I have this problem. Mostley the desighn but also it has to do with the CG, im going to have to post on here to ask were peoles CGs are cos mine is far too far aft, mines over half the root chord.

I have the west in mine, i have found the 13x4 (not the wide version) is allot nicer to fly with.

Thanks
Ian

Squabbler - Just out of curiousity, what other planes are you able to easily hover and harrier? The knife edge can me helped by mixing up elevator with rudder so it wont pitch towards the belly.

Well, let's see how I can explain this. When hi-alpha attitude, plane is very twitchy on all axis' and when it starts to fall to either SIDE, it's very difficult to catch with rudder/throttle.

I can EASILY hover my UCD .60 and my Ultra-Stick .60. Both are very, very stable right down to the deck all day long. Neither aircraft has spoileron or flaperon and are both extremely tail heavy. I'll try lesser spoileron, but, I don't think it's gonna' help much.

I too, would like to know where everyone has their CG for 3D.

Thanks guys for your help. I'll keep working w/ it and post results.

BTW, the West is a keeper!
