Default Edge 540 - Extreme Flight

For those of you buying this profile, how are you going to power it?

I guess I'll do the Saito 72 w/ Hitec 635 HB servos. Never tried the 635s - they replaced the 605s, which I've had good experience with.

I'm also going to try the 1020 Polymer Power Bar from powerflite. I've never run Polymer, but I hear they're great.

I have one on order as well and decided to use a
MVVS 49 w/ the tuned silencer
I have had good luck with these motors on
my proflies. However the Saito 72 would be awesome
for servos I went with Hitec 5475s -

I would put 225 mg's or the digital version the 5245 and a hs-81 on the throttle powered by a tiny 5 cell AAA Nihm. This plane looks to be built extremely light. For this reason I wouldn't put heavy standard size servos or Nicads in the plane. As far a power, I have both the Saito .72 & MVVS .49 with mini pipe. I think the MVVS is stronger (& a lot louder) but I like the Saito better. Either one would be plenty for this plane, even if you did use the standard size radio equipment. I’m really looking forward to hearing the flight reports as compared to the OMP/Sledge.

Does anyone know how much the Kokam 1020mAh Lithium Polymer battery back weighs? I can't find it on FMA's web site.

This pack is much cheaper than the others. I wonder if it's as good as powerflite or duralite.

I plan on usng OS .70, APC 14x4 prop, 30% fuel, 9001 coreless servos, hs-81 on throttle, 6.0V 1600 mah NiMH pack.

I have a Saito 56F, 225mgs and 545mgs with 12.25x3.75 apc prop.
Changing prop from 12x6 to 12.25x3.75 made a dramatic difference.
I think using 225mgs all the way would be better.
Saito 56F provides decent power but not unlimited vertical or enpugh enough power for hover.

Has anyone tried the FS-70 Ultimate from OS? It's a little heavier than the Saito 72. I wonder if it's more powerful.

YS .63 would be a good choice as it has a pressurized fuel delivery system that allows you to get a better C/G tank position. HS85 MG servos would be more than ample in speed ranges less than 25MPH.

Thunderpower LiPOly packs are hot item now, their 3cell packs do not even have balancing tabs which seems strange......

Mat - get this edge. I think it's going to be better than the Extreme 330.

We bought a house today - much smaller and doesn't need any work. I can focus on building and flying RC....

Are you going to XFC in June. Let's get dialed in now.

Later and say hi to Eda!

YS 63 is 1.5oz heavier than the Saito. Do you think it's worth it?? The saito should have more than enough power...

Well pumping up to 8 psi of fuel pressure in a pressurized tank I guess it has a few more pieces. I have one that I put in a Magic, I had it on a HYDE soft mount and the Magic weighed
4lbs 4oz RTF dry. It was insane.........

SAITO and YS engine are not even in the same league IMHO flying both. A YS 1.20 will outperform a Saito 1.50, I think it might be worth a look at the websites and view prop/rpm figures.

For even more input from someone, go post to Chip Hyde section in RCU, as he is loves this 3D stuff and is very politically correct when giving responses. He flies YS.63 in FLIPS? I think I read.
