I wonder why ESPN2 / Discovery does not pick up one of these extreme 3d competitions - like TOC or XFC?? Imagine what exposure like that would do for this sport....

Have pitched it to them before.

From what I have guessed, there is little to no human danger involved and no need to wear a helmet. Therefore no interest.

Would luv to go for it again if someone knows a way in the door.

I was always thinking myself, why we (RC pilots) never get any credit on tv.The world champions certainly deserve it.I guess many believe that they are still toys for boys.they should run an episode on "Wings" a few times, and see what happens.I seen several episodes on rocketry (Discovery) that were well done.but full aerobatic competetions would be eye candy.

Of course if you mixed in a pile of expensive crashes, they might consider it.

R/C aint dangerous enough for them? Iguess that SCRABBLE tournaments and spelling bees are though.

If flying "Toys" is not dangerous enough, how bout the full size IAC planes? they wear helmets don't they? I wish I could see more of that on tv... That would be the opening to start showing TOC clips of 40%ers torque rolling inches off the dirt. Might be one way of getting "airtime"

just a thought..

I for one am glad that RC isn't on TV now.

Could you imagine just for a second, the instant increase in money it would take to compete in ANY form of RC?

Here we have the #126 DuPont Ford Dealer Extra 300XS being flown by Joe Smith. He's brought 10 of these 48% airplanes to the field today and would like to thank his sponsors. Notice his new live computer downlink that tracks all of his servo speeds, engine temperatures, directions, altitude, airspeed, and bowel movement times. This event, the Tampax Aerobatic Challenge, is brought to you by Subway.

It's bad enough as it is already! Look at the XFC, how many sponsored pilots were there, or TOC, or even the NATS?

I do wish they would show more IAC competitions or the Haute Voltige on TV though. You have to already be a millionaire (or sponsored) just to afford hangar space for those beasts! (well maybe not but you know how expensive they are).

On discover wings over here in england we have quite often coverage of full size aerobatics. I remember on a program called 'aerobatics, pushing the limets' there was a 20 slot on RC aeros, the had people like dave brown and the carden guy been interviewed. It was good. There is also been a program on discovery H&L with a HUGE C-45 globemaster on, thats not 3D, but still amazing

to the normal guy in the street watching a guy standing there moving nothing but thumbs isn't sport.
we've got some flyers here tho whos physical moves on the ground whilst flying would put some sportmen to shame
