Hey all,
I have been building and flying for ten years and do not have a lot of experience with quicker aerobatic planes like a giles. but I think it would be a good challenge for myself and a worthy challenge if it doesnt bust to bits after some number of flights. I am a bit worried because my girlfriend is getting me a midwest giles kit for my birthday and I have read a ton of bad stuff about it here on RCUuniverse. I have built one before, but never flew it (sold it), and understand that it should be built light and will do that to the best of my ability. However, I am still very nervous (to the point of asking her to return the kit). Please, someone tell me that I will be just fine with a midwest giles, I would feel much better. I plan on using a Moki 1.8 in it.
Do people just have the throws up too high and snap it on final or what? I am quick to get nervous, but even quicker to blame a pilot; but there might be a vocal minority of people who are dissatisfied enough to post here about it. Are there good flying giles' out there? I plan on putting a good amount of time in on this plane (training for IMAC and just aerobatics) and know that if I could tame this beast that I would be more confident in taming a larger IMAC plane down the road; does this sound reasonable? Bear in mind that I do not plan on doing 3D with this plane, just loops, rolls, cuban-8s, snaps, and other manuvers.
thanks,
Chris

If your not planning on doing 3D, you are in the wrong forum. Ask the IMAC guys, I know some of them have built it.
Also if you do a search on the plane you can see all the other posts and threads done on it, some mention how to get the weight down. Part of that would be to use a Moki 135 not 180.
