Default Pride & Joy

Upon completing one of those "forever projects" (my own design pattern/sport plane) I wanted to add a little something extra for appearance. I aquired some titanium plate and formed a conventional landing gear which turned out very light (5.8 oz.) and very strong. I then wanted to add some custom rims, such as found on r/c cars setup with street rims and tires. To add them, I had to machine an axle with a mounted bearing. I did so using a small bearing with an aluminum housing with a machined threaded stud that mounts to the gear leg. Then I machined an axle which is press fit into the I.D. of the bearing. On this axle, I use two thin nuts to jam nut the plastic car rim securely in place. It works great and actually turned out fairly light. My plane ready to fly (dry) comes in at 9lbs. 7oz. with the following specs: wingspan-76", fuse-74", eng.-MDS148

FYI: My plane started with blown up plans from a Direct Connection Tsunami.
