Default what engine for my CAP232 (25)

I have just bought a 25 size CAP232 3D but I'm having trouble deciding on the engine.

The kit says that the flying weight (I assume) will be around 3.5lbs - 3.7lbs. I assume that is with the .25-.30 recommended engine size.

What engine would I need to put here to get it to hover and pull out with authority?

I'm considering

Saito 30 - Don't recommend bigger Saito... no stock until never
O.S. FS-30S
O.S. FS-40S
O.S. FS-52S
O.S. 25 FX
O.S. 32 SX
TT36Pro
O.S. LA .46 with pitts muffler

I'm leaning toward a FS-30S... but with a measly 0.5bhp, don't know if that will be enough to hover the CAP.

The second choice will be the LA.46 with the pitts muffler (slimline) but I'm afraid that it's just too big and the tank will last 4 minutes only...

What do you think? Or other recommendations?

It's almost done and I haven't chosen the engine yet!!!

By the way, the LA with muffler is just 12oz... about the same weight as the .25FX... That's why it's on the list... not because I'm power hungry!!! (Which incidentally, I am!)

Is the photo below your plane?

If so you will need at least the 32 SX, though the 46 LA sounds a good choice as well.

However, it it is this plane, sell it or take it back to where you bought it from. It is useless at 3D, and not much better at anything else.

Quite simply it does not fly at all well, and is poorly built. A friend of mine had one for about six weeks before giving up and selling it. For example he ripped the undercarriage mount out twice, despite perfect landings. It would not prop hang or torque roll, nor do any high alpha stuff.

If you can get a hold of a 46,then there are better airframes you could choose from.Baby caps, wont make a desirable unit, for what you intend to do,...sorry

Actually that is the plane!!!

That's too bad that you haven't had any luck with these planes... Given that, I might just not fly it or buy an el cheapo unit to fit in it like a GMS or something... thanks for the advice...

Looks like I'm back to finding a 3D plane... next on the list is the magic or the funair (I have a FZ63 itching for a set of wings... literally... crashed it and it's just mounted on the unscathed fuse)

Anysuggestions on the FZ? By the way, I'm in Hong Kong so all those cool planes you get over there I can't get, with the exception of the Flip3D... which is a big big plane.

Would have thought that the FZ would be perfect for the Flip 3D.

If you don't mind building kits, get the OK models seduction freestyle, or try the new seduction streamline. You can get them from singapore hobbies, and would have thought someone sold them in HK, they are Japanesse kits.

All this talk about the Flip 3D has be itching for one... but with 5 planes, an apartment the size of some people's master bathrooms and a strained budget, I think I'll have to skip it until my other planes decide to strike on me.

But thanks for the advice. I heard the FZ63 is a winner with the Flip.

by the way, it's strike as in strike the ground. :-)

At the end, I decided on an O.S. 32SX... really a great engine so far... the plane was just as expected... landing gear ripped off after first rough landing... now back in the hanger and soon to be out again!

Has the power to hover... not it's just up to the pilot!!!
