http://www.zen33329.zen.co.uk/Next%20event.htm

They are all there.

Easy to find though, come off the A1 at Junction 7 (stevenage), if coming from south (ie london) then turn left at the roundabout, the Novotel is on the left, you go through a gate oposite on right, and that is it. IF you dont find it within 15 seconds from coming off the A1, you are lost (it is that simple )

All,

I was at the event, but had to leave early at the end of the second round - flights to music.

...What happened?...

...Who won?...

...Did the Capiches clean up?...

Congradulations to all who competed - I thought that all of the flying I watched was great - Luke made great use of the music during his second flight!

Frustrated to have to be working on this lovely Sunday afternoon...

Hi

Just came back from the comp, good flying. Lukes flight to music was great but for some reason the juges didnt think so.

Got a few pics, most of them are either daves C140 wich is the first time ive seen it fligh and im amazed at it, so i took lots of photos and realised i didnt have enough for many more flights, there rest are lukes and one of the billions of adrenalins.

so heres the photos, i was standing in the carpark at this point, so i was at full zoom so not all the planes are in the center.

Billy Bunter

sorry, dont know, i left at four, at the rate it was going, im still thinking its still going on now. I think they need to get they need to something with the spaces between flights. as soon as one lands, one starts their engine and flies etc. not a 10min+ gap between

Some fantastic flying. Dont know who won, but I think Ali did it. His final round with the big Yak was very nice, and he was really pushing it. Nathan's flight was good too, but did not push it as it was Lukes C140 [:'(]. I think that was a mistake.

Dave's flight was fantastic too, I really like his style of flying It just seems far less hurried compared to every one else.

I really liked Luke's flight to music, it was the best in terms of flying to the music rather than with, I assume that the judges marked down as it did not have too much 3d in it, but the harrier landing was perfect.

Maybe I'll get organised and enter next year.[8D]

thought the rules were a 2mx2m plane under 5kg, how could Ali have been flying his big yak then?

Nice day. The music round was brilliant to watch. (think any plane is allowed foofy)

Some great flying by all- congrats to ali.

archie,
One bloke came second in advanced with his C50.

And Dean did a brilliant job flying after we all egged him on to fly instead of just watching.

BUT i came back with the plane in one piece this time!

must admit i was dissappointed with my music flight score but there didnt seem to be any marks for how well you flew to the music. hopefully this will be what the music round is judged on next year.

All in all an excellent event, and was very glad that terry was willing to take suggestions from everyone as to how next year should be run.

.Just got back and unloaded the van. Great day with perfect weather (As always for this comp) The Advanced was first Paul Camilleri (sorry if spelling is wrong) With Adrenaline 90
2nd Andrew Maker Capiche 50
3rd Nathan Rawlings Adrenaline 90
I was not aware of any size limitations on models and the judges said nothing about the big Yak so I guess it must be OK. I think the fixed schedule put a lot of people off this comp, which is a shame because the brief bit of routine flying that I have done I have really enjoyed and I intend to keep it going with some F-3A. I am sure Terry is actively working on a solution to this for next year in a effort to get more people there, if this does happen I think the comp will have to be two days to fit it all in, as we finished today at about 6pm so if we have allot more pilots it will be flying till 10pm
If it is a two day event (In fact even if it isn't) The location had to be moved. This to me is the most important change that needs to be made. I have never been to a more unsuitable and more importantly, unwelcoming club in my life. I feel that I have to extended a special mention to the Knebworth club for making those that made the journey to the filed a day early to practice/settle in or camp totally unwelcome and hacked off. I understand that it may be the club fun day but to be as rude as they were to the competitors who some of which had driven over 5 hours to get to the site is totally uncalled for. Sorry to have a moan straight away but I was so hacked off with the attitude of the majority of the knebworth club that I felt I had to write something. It was Ok for me because I could drive home at night , but for those that had no choice but to camp it was hard work. Surely if the club members do not want the competition at their field they should have made this clear in advance and the location could have been moved. Bang out of order if you ask me. As fo rthe comp itself some great flying and strong competition. Nathan Ferrel Jones's flight to music made my hairs stand up on end. Top flight. You could really see where people had put the effort into the compulsory rounds and the close final scores reflected how tight things were. Too many highlights to mention but I am sure others will fill in the blanks. Well done to Terry and the team on a job well done

I will dito all the above, but we did not let Saturdays problems spoil a good wekend, instead of practicing, all the people that turned played cricket instead

Watching Brains running about in 90 degrees heat with a jumper on was proper

good day by all

No limit on plane, this is just about flying

One thing I did notice, last year there were many who flew 50 size planes, (Hypes, C50s), this year there was one C50, and Dean larking about with a 3Styla. Rest were 90 size and up. C140 was most popular plane, followed by the Adrenaline.

As a spectator, the music rounds were fantastic entertainment, I enjoyed every one, scored highly or not.

The fixed schedule was not good to watch, the only interesting bit being when some one completely balls it up. Hope that is changed for next year.

If we go to two days, then we need to have a flight to music round each day.

As for venue, would like to offer my club but the planning restrictions are too tight to allow this type of comp unfortunately.

I would have competed with a 50 sized plane... but i didn't have time to practice this year, and after last years farce i decided to enter prepared next year instead! Last year i had two weeks to set-up and develop an own design AND LEARN 3D!! It was a little optimistic!

Can 3D now but decided to do fun-fly at nats instead. Less stressful! Thats the thing about Barkston - no trees! Must admit there must be a more suitable site around. And mabe a tad more North perhaps!!

Well done to everyone who entered, see you next year

think I'm getting confused with other competitions.

It's a shame clubs get like this over competitions. I even had trouble at a club in ilminster where a very well internationally known scale competitor flies and he wouldn't even let me mention the club in an Internet site I was planning to make, apparently it would draw to many people to the club and we wouldn't be able to fly there anymore due to too many planes in the sky (not because we would not be allowed to fly there). SO I thought stuff them and joined another one. He was a miserable sole too.

My new club is a bit more friendly but don't like the older generation cause they are anti 3D, but the fad this year was steam boats, so they were all down in torquay playing with their steam boats leaving us to 3D.

I love it when I get told off for flying too low over the strip (landing area) I even fly over the grass, and then they do the same with their biplane.[&:]

Speaking to TW, this was the first time any trouble occured, though they were thinking of moving it next year anyway apparently. Just a matter of where to. I obviously want to keep it down south, we are under-represented anyway in competitions as it is.

lmao @ gizmo,
Dink Inferno, you should enter with that name!
Well done martin, a well deserved win at the fun fly, the weather affected us all but you seemed to battle against it and manage to get impossible scores in the limbo and touch and goes lol hope to see you again next year to defend your title
Shame I couldn't make it to the freestyle, wouldn't have liked to sit through the set routines but every1 seemed to have enjoyed the freestyle to music.

Dean
