use a saito 72 it has all the power you will need this plane was not deisgned to do high speed viloent 3D you will tear it up with a saito 100 use a saito 72 it provides great reliable power and infinity vertical but not at high speeds and top speed going parralel to the ground it will go at least 70 MPH hope this helps

why the he// WOULD YOU FLY THE FUNTANA AT 70 MPH. MINE WITH SATIO 100 WILL ONLY DO ABOUT 45. LOW PITCH FOR 3 D .A SATIO 100 WILL NOT TEAR THE PLANE UP. AND NO IT WILL NOT HAVE ALL THE POWER YOU WILL NEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I AM AT 836 FEET ABOUT SEA LEVEL. WELL IF YOU THINK BARLY PULLING OUT OF A HOVER IS 3D. IT SURE WON'T KEEP UP WITH A 21 POUND PLANE WITH A BME 110 EXTREAM ON THE FRONT.

WELL THERE IS SOME DIFFERENCE IN 45 AND 70 .MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING FUN AND FLUTTER. DUDE THATS 25 MPH DIFERENCE. WHAT IF COPS DID THAT YOU WERE GOING 45 BUT I THINK YOU WERE GOING 70 .HOLY CRAP THAT WON'T WORK .IN CASE .I'M THE ONE THAT SAID MINE WILL DO ABOUT 45 . PROBLEY A LOT LESS NEVER OPENED IT UP STRAIT AND LEVEL. NOT 70 FOR DRAG I BREAK OUT THE WHIP . YES IT WILL HARRIER OR BLENDER BUT SO WILL MY PT 20. BUT THATS NOT ALL OF 3D WITH THIS MUCH POWER I MAY GO 4D

chill out. who cares how fast or slow your plane flies...you're acting like you're 14 and you're having a fight during recess. mine flies fine with an OS 70 Surpass. Plenty of power to pull out of a hover with an APC 14X4w prop.

I have the Saito 100. Almost too much power. Too much useable power anyway. I NEVER go over 3/4 throttle and even that is on a high speed vertical climb. If you have to buy a engine get a Saito 72 or YS 63. Dont get OS 70 Surpass cause even though it makes almost as much power as a Saito 72, it weighs nearly as much as a Saito 100. That is why I used the 100. I had it and the OS but after weighing them i chose the 100. In fact, if you wanted to go with the cheaper route, you could use an OS 50SX. It is a very light and very powerful engine. Or heck, even a Thunder Tiger 46. Pair either one with a 12x4 APC or the Saito 72 with a 14x4 APC and you will have plenty of power. Dont listen to these clowns saying that "You have to have a Saito 91 or 100 cause it wont fly on a 72 or 46 two stroke." Well GUESS WHAT. Yall are full of crap. Maybe at 6000 feet above sea level a 46 two stroke wont hover it, but nothing is as good at that elevation anyway. Oh, and this is not just my $.02, THIS IS FACT.

that was exactly the point i was trying to make yet some people have to strike down others opinions but the Saito 72 will do nicely for this plane it was not designed to do high speed 3D keep it real and you will relly enjoy this plane hope this helps

I just picked up an OS 61 FX for mine, but it feels almost as heavy as the plane. What would be a good slow speed/high thrust prop for that engine on this plane? I was thinking a 10/4 but if anyone has a better idea let me know.

Thanks for the warning. That was one of the sugested sizes in the manual for the engine. I will have it installed in a couple more evenings. I'll just wait and measure when I have everything installed. I just want something that will keep the plane at a moderate speed but give me lots of thrust for powering out of a hover.

the apc 14X4w is the prop that i use. it provides a lot of thrust, so much so that the plane won't sit still on the ground even at idle. there isn't much room between the bottom of the prop arc and the ground, but the landing gear is pretty stiff so as long as your runway is flat there's nothing to worry about. i have an os 70 surpass II on my plane, but the 14X4w should work well for the 61fx too.

Its not so much the flat runway, its the pilot that worries me with that little clearance with the 14-4. Most fields are grass around here.
