U-Can-Do 3D 46 and dual elevators on Eclipse 7??
Hi all,
I'm having a hard time with the dual elevator servos on my UCANDO 46.
It seems the Hitec Eclipse 7 Tx cannot "see" two elevator servos independently. Is there a way to make them move right without resorting to bending one of the pushrods???
Thanks for any advice!!!
Arthur

I had the same exact problem with mine. I have the same exact setup and and asked the guy from Hitec, he said Eclipse can't do that. You can either put a Servo reversing y-harness or hook up only servo to the top of the elevator and the other to the bottom. Have Fun!

Mix the elevator channel, #2 with channel #5 with Pmix1.
Channel #5 Landing gear switch should be up and Ch.7 switch should be up.
Dual elevator servo mix setup. There you go. took me 30 seconds to program. Didn't even read the manual.
There's more to this radio than you think!!!

cool stuff... did it work for you?? I just happened to have my radio gear setup and ready. Just starting to mount the engine on it. I got the 40 size one though. I can't wait to fly this thing!

Nah, didn't try yet, I just came from work and will leave it for tomorrow... yesterday I worked on it till 4 AM !!!!! ENOUGH!!!
But thanks again! I hope you don't mind a few possible new questions as they pop up in my dreams!

With the pmix Tomi is using the elevator trim only works on the half on ch 2. You can use the subtrim to do the other half after you get it on the ground.
At least thats what I read some where. Is that true?

I was having trouble with one of my engines dieing in a flat spin if I didn't move the throttle up a couple clicks from idle and the Eclipse dosn't have the two speed idle ether. But I figured out I could set up a two speed idle using a pmix. I have it setup on pmix 3 with ch 3 slaved to ch 3. It works great. I flip the switch and rase the rpm about 500 and fly there and when I get ready to land just switch back to a low idle thats good to land on.

If you're at all technical, wuch most rc'rs are. you can take your servo apart and reverse the black and red wires going from the circut board to the servo motor. this will reverse the servo.. then you just Y them together! Still you have to adjust endpoints mechaniclly.. it can be done! You can use a pmix with the eclips 7 as stated above, but only the master channel is trimable. :-( Bummer.. My JR radio reserves 2 pmixs to be trimable. makes this alot easier!

Thanks a lot tomi! I would've never thought of doing that. Even the guy from Hitec said nothing would work.

If the switches are down, ch.5 will act as a Retract switch, which is really is but u'r just mixing. As for adjusting the elevator, I didn't think about the elevator trim. You will have to go to Subtrim. But since it's pretty easy to spot to just land it and trim it, it's fine for what I want.
I was gonna do the Y harness but I didn't want to spend more money on harness's.
Instead of splicing the wires, Why not just install one of the servo with the servo arm pointing DOWN and the other Pointing UP. It should the same.

It won't be the same Tomi, because the other servo is on the other side, so it works like a"mirror" of the other servo. I tried it already... Also if I point the arm to the opposite side I would have to bend the pushrod, a NO-NO in 3D!
Anyway I'm VERY satisfied with the Eclipse. It's a great radio for the price. [sm=thumbup.gif]

RE: U-Can-Do 3D 46 and dual elevators on Eclipse 7??
I had the same issue with my Futaba T6XA. I could mix the 2 servos, but when I went to trim them out, only one responded to the trim. I had to use a servo reverser...

If you reverse the wires on the servo motor you have to reverse the wires on the feedback pot also. Otherwise the servo will go hard over in one direction and stop.

Rocketman, you're right. That's what happened. Also, when I reversed the black/red wires in the circuit board only, nothing happened. I mean the servo did not move at all.
I guess it was the wrong thing to do...
I'll now try the motor/pot idea.

RE: U-Can-Do 3D 46 and dual elevators on Eclipse 7??
I'm also waiting for a hitec eclipse 7 to come in the mail. I'm curious whether I should get a y harness for dual elevators or should I keep the individual servo extentions for each servo. I currently have a flash 5 TX with dual elevators on a 60 UCD. Although I can't perform any complicated mixes using the dual elevator setup with this radio, I can at least trim both elevators at the same time while flying. Do you mean to tell me I will not be able to trim the elevators in the air using the eclipse 7 without causing one elevator to move. Please clarify for me. I find it VERY difficult to believe the eclipse 7 can not mix both elevator channels together when trimming in the air. Any input would be very appreciated.

My solution was to use a Y-harness WITH servo reverser. I got from Cliff @ www.atlantahobby.com.
The harness includes the reverser with a trim-pot so you can center the reversed servo electronically.
Solved my problem for good!
