Default CAP X - Engine Choice???

Hey Guys

I am getting ready to build my Cap X and I have narrowed to 3 engines: OS 160, Moki 180, MVVS 2.10 (glow)

I have heard the 160 will make the plane tailheavy.

Any comments on any of these engines?

Thanks

Eric, not on your list but I am building mine with a Brison 2.4. Most of the glow guys are finding the plane to be just a little on the tail heavy side with the OS's and even the Moki is a tad light in the nose. I saw the MVVS at the show and was very impressed, 'specially with the walbro carb. A little extra weight but the performance is a little better and it runs on 5% nitro which can only be a good thing. Can't wait to hear what you decide to do. My engine is here now I just hope the muffler gets here by the weekend so I can try it out. The plane is all together except for the actual engine install.

Erick I plan on using the 1.60fx and just cramming things as far back when I get mine. I plan on 1700mah or larger batteries or even a large sub-c pack to help keep the weight in the back. Just my thoughts

good luck

This was covered in another thread.
It seems that using the Moki, which is a little heaver, helps the tail heavy condition ... if not eliminate it.

I am using a Saito 180, and need to add 7 to 8 oz. in the nose. (check the weights of your choices for comparison)

However ... weight is weight, whether its the engine or lead. ( as determined in the other thread)

I think any of your choices will work.
The Moki will require a longer break-in !

Hope this helps.

Good flying to you !

Another solution instead of the heavier Moki engine would be to use the 160FX or Saito 180 and use two battery packs. Put them both under the engine and fly all day on one charge. At least it's useful weight. A 1700Mah NiCd pack weighs about 5 ounces

In the ARF forum...

I am very happy with the Moki 180. No added lead for balance and more power than the OS 160 on low nitro fuel....

I'm going to run the Moki 1.8 - eliminates the need for lead up front. If you run the Saito 1.8, I've got a used one I'd sell to you.
