Couple UCANDO ?'S
#1
1.I got a UCANDO 3d .46 a couple weeks ago and Im trying to decide what engine to use. Up til now I planned on using My Super Tigre .51, But my dad has offered to buy me a new engine for my 8th grade graduation in 7 days. I really want a 4 banger but I don't like o.S.<no offense> I've been looking really hard at The SAITO 72 and SAITO 80. I fly at only 410 Ft. elevation so which would you recomend? Also I really like the looks of the Black night, I think those golden Valve coverswould look good stickin out the bottom of the cowl, but does the black make the Engine heat up quicker and run hotter?
2. In the instructions it says to bolt on th wing and epoxy on the belly pan, but the bolt heads are to large to fit through the stock holes. Do the bolts just stay in between the belly pan and the wing or should I enlarge the holes so the bolt heads can come out?
3. I don't really care to have that exhaust sticking out the side so should I order a "flex pipe" or is there another exhaust system? I don't mind it being loud, maybe everyone will get out of the way LOL.

If you're going to pay the extra for the gold knight, why not go ahead and get the .91 instead? That engine is awesome for the UCD .46. I'd stay away from the .80 as it's heavier than the .91, with less power.

The new Saito 82 swings APC 14x4W @ 10700 rpm on 30% heli fuel, weighing 17.5 oz including muffler, which is about the best power setup you can have. Or choose the YS 63-S for a little more power w/ APC 13x4W @ 12000 rpm on 30% heli fuel, weighing less than 17 oz including muffler. Either of these 2 setups will give you what you need.

Well guys I ended up going with a saito 91 ordered it monday and it got here today Fri. Very pleased with service as well as quality of the engine. I haven't started the engine yet or do I have a prop or fuel. What prop should I run for it with a UCANDO 3D .46? What fuel should i run? Thanks

For the Saito 91 on my funtana, I use an APC 15x4W prop. Nice combo. A 14x6 would be good too - not sure how much prop clearance (from the ground) you'll have on the UCD.

I use a zinger 15x4 wood prop on the front of my Mag 91 fs on the UCD 46. It is lighter, cheaper and gives very good service. It will also break sooner thus maybe preventing damage to your plane/engine. The UCD will not take abuse, especially the landing gear so be careful when landing....

Be sure you use a smaller prop to break the engine in, like a 13x6 or 14x6.
You should consider breaking it in on a stand. My Saito .91 shook like mad in the beginning. As it broke in, it smoothed out a lot.
