Wow
Your friend's loss is your gain on this one!
This plane is all about slow high alpha flight!
They say to set the CG at 150mm - 160mm ( 5 7/8" - 6 3/8" ) from the leading edge of the wing. I have mine set at 6 5/8" and it's a blast to fly!
I'm not using any spoilerons/flaperons as of yet, but would by all means suggest you play around with them.
The prop I like the best so far is the APC 12.25x3.75. My engine ( West 50 w/Throttle pipe ) is now well broken In and is making unreal power!
I took some Du-Bro pull-pull cable and made my own flying wire around the vertical and horizontal stabs gluing them in place and ending at a screw at the bottom of the fuse.
What servos are you using?
Get ready for a lot of smiling

I'm using some of the new hitehc 5475 digitals on 6 volts. These things are amazing. For power on mine I have a Saito 72, and I have a webra 50 that I may be trying out in it. Battery pack is a 5 cell 1450 nimah. I'm using a hitech electron 6 for a receiver. Prop is an APC 13x4w, running w/ 15% nitro. My setup has almost unlimited vertical. I'm balanced at the rear suggested point. I have flap to elevator and spoiler to elevator mixing at about 50%. I don't remember the exact number. Waterfalls are amazingly tight w/ flaps kicked in. Spoilers help stall the wing for high alpha moves, I've found that I've had a hard time to get the wing to stall sometimes, so kicking up the flaps with the elevator for harriers fixed that. I played around with a little elevator->rudder mixing, but found it didn't help much. The pitch coupling in ke wasn't enough that it was worth the mix to take it out. I did chop the tips off the wing though, and ke performance was greatly increased.

I thought the 13x4w prop was too much. Yeah I got 12k rpm with the West 50t1 but spool up wasn't that great. I'm usingh the 12.25x3.75 which is recommended in the instructions and used by the nice chap at Weston i spoke to on the phone the other day (Simon?). Fuel is ProSynth 10% - good stuff!
Not sure where my CG is (I know its waaaay back
) but my battery is behind the wing. I'll post some pics of my install when my camera battery is recharged.

bahamadude,
its a 600mah 2/3 AA nicad. I fly 3 maybe 4 flights on 1 charge and thats it, I'll charge it again. It is a small capacity but i've got a battery checker and its never gone less than full, however I won't chance my luck. It works well cos its so light! Its a great place to put the cells as it keeps the CG nicely far back.
Cabane,
good spot, yes it does need wrapping! I only just moved the battery a few days ago and wanted to go flying! Naughty naughty............

i use theat fntastic sticky back foam, great stuff for tight installtions.
im saying to everyone try the 13*4 APC out. its very good, i get about 13,500 RPM flat out on 10% fuel. my very heavy flip hovers lower than half power

Edible,
If you're talking 13x4w then tried it don't like it, if you're saying 13x4n then I may try it but I'm very happy with the 12.25x3.75 and am too tight to spend ÂŁ6 on a prop I may never use more than once! However I'll give the sticky foam a go, top idea..........

For wrapping receivers etc, I use bubble wrap, weighs nothing and is excellent, have the bubbles on the inside. Cheap too, check out the post office.

mvvs 61 i think would be perfect cause a mvvs 49 cant pull a 12.25X 3.75 the way a weston 51 can
