Hi friends
I informed [link]http://jet-hobbies.com[/link] of their plane "Fun Air 20" defects: 1 - I had to enlarge the firewall hole to push forward the tank and remove a lot of balsa to install it. 2 - I had to prolong very much the main landing gear legs to be able to install the propeller.
3 - I had to change bottom of the wings by another color to be able to distinguish it from the top.
I informed Jet-hobbies of all these defects. Their answer: "We sold a lot of these planes and nobody complained about them".
Perhaps it's true: we often are lazy. BUT THESE DEFECTS ARE VERY EVIDENT.

Let's try to inform them of their planes defects.

#1, I can see, but what size engine/prop are you using? if is it well above their recommended engine, making the stock gear too short and also requiring a larger tank? and #3, coloring isn't a defect, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Lots of planes have identical top/bottom wing colors, especially ones that use clear covering.

Are you in the pay of Jet-hobbies? I used the stock fuel tank, propeller 10x6 and this kind of plane requires a different color for top and bottom! When you are doing fast rolls or torque roll flying low, you must distinguish the top from the bottom fastly or you'll crash.
Don't say foolish things like Jet-hobbies.

I also have "Fun Air 20" and what you said is all true: tank not to allowed to install the wings. I had to burn with a hot iron a lot of balsa. I had to enlarge the hole firewall to let the tank stopper go in. I had to lenghten landing gear legs cutting them and gluing two aluminum sticks. Before I tied them with copper wire. I also must change top color because last sunday I was going to crash the plane.
It cannot distinguish in full light.

Finally somebody who tells the truth! You aren't surely in the pay of Jet-hobbies.
Another reflection: the most diffuse lack of planes is a weak landing gear (
many planes are weak in the legs). Aluminum legs bend
easily. Connection system is the real weak point. Model racing cars have a lot of shock absorbers, landing gear no one.
Dear Manufacturers, you must invent shock absorbed landing gears, fixed in elastic way on rubber supports.

For 3D models lighter is better, adding spring UC's make it heavy IMO.
Before you get shock absorbers, maybe you should practice your landings on sim??

There are shock absorbing legs, Oleos and such the like, you can pick them up easy but of course, you want to keep a 3D model light!

Has nobody else found other lacks in own planes? If lacks are written here, it's easier that manufacturers provide to remove deficiencies.

My Feedback: (2)
Some of the improvements come from the pilot/builder. Like adding silicone rubber shock absorbing material between the landing gear and the fuselage of a UCD, or making a 5/32 wire gear for a profile fuselage. Improvements are part of the fun of the hobby.

no-one got torque wire UC? simply use 8 guage wire and once at the plane bend 90 degrees to the legs, then after 3-4" bend inwards and hard mount, use clamps to hold the level part. the wire on this flat part will twist allowing the legs to spring. light and works great.
colours arn't the way for top/bottom vision, you'll recognize geometric shapes before colour and at a greater distance. large circles on the bottom normally do the trick. also make sure you're colours are opposite ends of the grey scale for better vision far out and in low light.

= is the rubber box, section 3 cm x 1,5 cm - \[ ]/ are metal (brass? duralumin? ergal?) profiles that hold the rubber box with holes for screws. In this way the landing gear and the screws are free to rotate and can absorb shocks instead of breaking and damaging the fuse.
In profile planes I'd use a great solution. Instead of doing little holes for the screws of landing gear, I'd do two holes of 9 - 10 mm. I'd put into the holes two rubber "fisher" (I don't know if you call them in this way: they are used to fix brackets on a wall) and I'd use their
screws to fix the two legs of landing gear. It's a very good idea.

You want a shock absorbing undercarriage?
Try the ready available spring UC legs or tidy up your landings.
Alternativly try GRP for flexibility.
