Default Importing to the UK

A friend of mine is looking into importing some models from the USA into the UK.

So my question is what would you like to see available in the UK?

I have already suggested that he look into the Extreme Flight Yak's and the Hangar9 Funtana 90.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated and who know, they could soon be available to us all instead of just you lucky americans.

Any size models

Thanks

Simon

Hanger 9 stuff used to be distributed in the UK by CML. They are no longer importing Hanger 9....so they're may be an opportunity there - But to make it viable you will have to look at big volumes, probably at least a container full. And as they are more of a global concern they may want a sole, large and recognised european distributor.

The smaller manufacturers may be a better alternative, but again if its very specialised you'll be looking at a much more focused market. Sebart in Italy will be doing the Funtana 140's and Quiequi's YAKS, shipping into the UK from Italy is easy and not too expensive, so you immediately have a competitior on the Extreme Flight YAK (asuming they're comparable, I'm sure I just opened a can of worms!!!)

I wonder how the guys importing the Dave Patrick stuff are doing....I see the prices at Wings and Wheels were a fair bit cheaper than Sandown.

Good luck to your friend, it would be great to see more of the US stuff available to us, and takes some balls to lay the cash down to make it a reality.

For me the main thing lacking in the UK is the avaliablity of hardware etc for large models. I had to travel to germany for the stuff i needed for my 44% cap. I've now got real quality in the hardware on the model, but i've never seen anything like the quality here in the UK.

I also had to wait 4 weeks for a powerbox for the Cap, in the US theres many different types readily available.

I know that us Giant flyers in the UK are a minority, but i thinl someone could make some money from importing the smaller stuff(hardware/electronics etc) which you cant get here.

Colin,

If someone could import the Extreme Flight stuff into the UK I'd buy the largest Yak 54 in a an instant, and know others who feel the same!

Goldberg models - kits and ARTFs.

CA Models - OK so they are Argentina, not US, but still want them!
