Basically an OS 1.08 with standardly located needle valve... I got it for $50.00 with BISSON Pits muff...

I hope this horse ain't already been killed, but what is a good prop? Say for a 9.5 pound, 1150 square 3D'r??
thanks

It is way bigger than a 1.08. It's 35ccs...

I might be wrong, but I think the BX-1 was the old "Boxcar" engine a 1.08 (I have one). It was called this before it was the 1.08FSR. The 35cc is, I think, the BGX-1. Confusing.

The 1.08 BX-1 is a lugger, at least, mine is. I like a 15-8 or 16-6 prop. Nice running engine. Starts in 1 back flip, runs steady, good power, but really heavy-over 35 ounces with stock muffler. It might be lighter with the Bisson.

I went to the OS ENGINES web site and looked it up... yes it is a "BX-1" not a "BGX"... OS indicated it was a 1.08. It weighs in at 36 ounces with an aluminum engine mount. I expect the mount is around 4 ounces... so it is a 2 pound motor. I am planning to replace a SAITO 100 in a FUNTANA 90 with this motor and a perry pump. The SAITO is about 24 ounces... so I am taking an 8 ounce hit in the nose. I guess I can just move the battery to the tail!!! I fly at 3000 feel msl and I am sure the SAITO even on 20 or 30% nitro will not be adequate. I may chuck this motor up in the mill and cut some metal off. Material between the mounting lugs and maybe thin out some of the fins opposite the exhaust. Might need to use a grinder to get some of the weight out!!! Anyone know what the boss lookin' thing on the back of the cylinder is for? Might be a convenient location for a pressure tap?!?!?
I will use a 16 x 4W APC with the saito... If I can get a 17 x 4W, maybe that will be a good prop for the OS???
any thoughts??
thanks
