Default Aeroworks 40% edge

I have been looking for a H9 extra 330, but I have scratched that Idea, I like edges too much. Would the aeroworks 40% edge 540 or edge 540 T be ok? from what I have seen the AW does every bit as good as the Carden, and AW is the only one who makes the 540T, which I like better. Anybody else have experience with the AW 40% Edge 540 or 540T? thanks

Default Edge 540T

Hello,

Correction. Aerotech R/C Models makes a 42% Edge 540 and 540T and I have owned Aeroworks and Carden which I still have my Carden Cap. But Aerotech does as good as either one of those companys and the planes perform right up there without a problem. I have had great success with them as a customer. But Aeroworks does a very good job also. Hard to fault any of them.

Thanks

Aerotech may make good planes, but I will never know. They want 2/3 of the money up front as a deposit and then you have to wait for the kit.

Carden only takes a 50.00 deposit. I've owned 4 cardens and see no need to look for something that is supposedly better. Carden makes the best kit I have seen, and the planes will last for years even under abusive situations.

Hello,

I understand your opinion and your entitled to it. Aerotech and Carden have been around as long as I can remember, like 1993. So I didnt question Dennis when he asked for a deposit and also have to wait for a kit sometimes two to three months. Nor I have ever worried about Aerotech. Both kits are eqully nice and one builds 180 degrees of the other.

As I said I own both and you also seem to have many Cardens because thats your preference and thats cool. But every company has a different set of operating guidlines and Carden, Aerotech, Aeroworks, Radiocraft all want deposits that are refundable. I have never had any issue with kits or prolonged delays from most any one of the companies above. Have fun and fly what you like. I was simply stating that Aerotech makes one and Ive also flown there demo plane last Feb 2001 when it was finished.

I do not have a problem with Aerotech RC. I never once brought the quality of their planes into question. They may be twice the airplane that a Carden is.

My whole beef with them is their business practice.

I would love to have their chipmunk and would order one right now if he would take his deposits on credit card, but I am not going to send a 200.00 cash deposit on a plane that only costs 300.00

I didn't get to where I am today by being foolish.

Yea..not a big deal for me though. He even gave me a free instrument panel cause I'm young and its hard to afford big planes. WHAT A GUY!

They have given me a free instrument panel for repeat orders. Caroline and Dennis are 2 of the nicest people you will meet.

I know they moved their operation recently. Maybe that's when they changed the deposit requirement.

Hello,

Hey I understand your point, but again everyone has different business practices and just because one is different than another, means just that. My impression is that your afraid your going to get taken by that size of a deposit. Don't bash the companys business practices. You havent done business with them according to your post, so you can't judge their business practices just form an opinion on what deposit they require.

I have spent over $3000.00 there in the past 12 months with deposits and never had to worry. So in closing have fun and if you change your mind they are a nice group to deal with and offer and excellent product. Side note: there is a guy that flies at the Venice, Fl field and has John original Super Chipmunk from 1994 with a 3.2 Sachs. I didnt fly it but it was nice looking and slowed down to a crawl. Nice sport plane from the looks.

Take Care Todd

Just because I have a differing oppinion than you does not mean I am bashing. I think there are a lot of other people who feel the same way I do - just look for a post on Brisson engines in the giant engine forum.

I also stated that I had never owned an Aerotech.
I'm sure they are nice models - I even stated that I would love to have the chipmunk.

The gentleman who started this post asked about Aeroworks, Carden, or Aerotech. I pointed out Aerotech's deposit requirement which would factor into any kind of purchase decision. He can choose to do what he wants, I was simply pointing out some of the info I have that I felt was related to the question.

Andy - I'm in Charles Town (Eastern Panhandle) Some of the guys from my club were talking about going to Wally's Squadron. I would love to. Let me see if I can put a small caravan together.

Any landing fees?

Default AW 40% Edge

A very good Friend of mine just paned his 40% edge into a corn Field from about 25 ft. (engine quit in the middle of a Harrier) The only damage was the landing gear, prop, and a cracked fire wall. I was sure it has going to be totaled when I saw it go in! Luck? Maybe, but It is one tough airframe

Also, this is the lightest 40% at 33.5. It is on their web sight. Go to cust. photo. Click on the pic that has two purple and white Edges being held by their tail. The guy in the pic is the son of my Friend.

Just my .02! Thanks Scott

Todd,

Everything is free. You must be AMA licensed. Food is free. Boyscouts do all the cooking. The field is grass and is 1800 ft long. We use only 600+ feet of it to fly. There are only 3 trees in this field, but a lot of cows, who usually stay away. Last year we had over 90 pilots and 300 airplanes. Its quite large, the biggest in the state. People start to gather around Thursday. We have an impound open from 9-5, before and after that it is on the honor system with an open chit board. Many people camp, we have porta-pottys, but no showers . You will definetaly have fun. We have a 50/50 drawing for cash and several door prizes. You should come down with your buddies and we'll show you a good time. Just ask for Andy when you get there, everyone knows me.

Andy

Oh, if you need directions, email me at [email protected]

Default Wally's Squadron Fly in!!

Andy, I should be able to follow RadicalRC down to the event. Only problem is that I don't have a trailer for my Edge, and Dave's truck and trailer will be full. I'll be able to figure out how to get my Edge down there in 1 piece, well, actually 3. A fuse and 2 wing panels!!!

If worse comes to worse, I can borrow a trailer from a buddy of mine, hopefully!!!

Thanks for the invite Andy. Just clear a hole for me by your tent, and I'll call that home for 3 days. Dave wants to leave early Thursday morn, and be there by afternoon. How long of a drive is it from here, Dayton, OH??

I'll EMail you later on so we can discuss details.

Chris~

Chris,

Summersville, where the flyin is, is about 2.5 hours from Galipolis. I'd say it will take no more than 5 hours to get here from Dayton. It is very simple to get to us. Just go to Galipolis, stay on 35 and follow it until you see signs for I-64. Follow I-64 thru Charleston WV. Stay on I-64 until you see the sign for Route 19 to Summersville. Takes about 50 minutes from the time you get on Rt. 19. Go all the way thru Summersville. Once you pass the golf course and the High school on your right, the next right is Phillips Run Road. Turn right there and then take another right. YOu will see the flying site right in front of you. See ya thursday.

are you talking about the one with the 3 on the tail? that is the best looking plane I have ever seen! I have made up my mind, I am getting the 40%, I talked to AW yesterday, all I need to do is sell my P-51 and I can order it.

this is the one!

I did get to fly it a few times before the corn field incident.

It lands better than my 33%. I don't think you can go wrong with the AW, but all the other brands fly well also. I fly AW because they have treated me good from the start, so why go anywhere else? As long as they have what I'm looking for I'll get it from them.

thats a great looking plane! Chris 540, whats wrong with aeroworks and 3W engines other than the fact that its not the same thing you have? Why does Quique fly AW with a 3W? guess thats because they suck right? Quique must be retarted.

I have an AW edge bud. But the Carden is supposedly way better so thats what I got for my next plane.

and 3W..is just 3W.
